21 Jump Street Spin-off

This female *franchise* thing is stupid. It just reeks of forced political correctness. Create something original, for Christ's sake.

I have no doubt that this would be part of the plot and used for comedic value. In the same way the concept of a reboot was used for the first film, and the concept of a sequel was used for the second.

The plot practically writes itself from that. Anyone want to cast these female cops that'll infiltrate the High School/College? Would it be these ones to keep it in the same universe? Or new ones?

If they had to cast new ones, I'd suggest Rebel Wilson and either Alexandra Daddario or Anna Kendrick or Aubrey Plaza

I just don't see how another movie in the Jump Street franchise will turn out good.

How many times can they do the undercover cop thing before it just gets stale. I mean maybe they have really good writers but the best undercover cop movies have always been about a cop who gets in too deep somehow...come to think of it I cant think of an undercover cop movie where someone doesn't get in too deep

Anyway, so with a female led movie theyre going just joke about "Woah now it's the same thing just with girls". And while I can think of some humor to be had in showing that from a girl's perspective and there are some dope actresses to choose from like Kiersy Clemons or Hailee Steinfeld, it just still seems repetive and stupid.

Just as stupid as making 23 Jump Street with Tatum and Hill when they already lampooned on how silly sequels get. They'll just be playing themselves.

But Godspeed. if I get a good movie outta it, I'll be happy.

Talk about beating a half-dead horse. The first film was surprisingly funnier than I thought it would be. The 2nd, just beat to death whatever the first film didn't do. The MiB crossover sounded stupid, and this just sounds desperate.

My question why does SONY want to go for Round 2?

They already took a bath with Ghostbusters 16. Why try a very similar thing again especially when the first time went so disastrously for them

They might keep Dakota Johnson

Because this time they'll be totally meta about it?

In the coming months, Sony will release reboots of its “Charlie’s Angels” and “Men in Black” franchises, and is hard at work developing a spin-off of “21 Jump Street” that will focus on female undercover cops.

One idea that has been abandoned is to have the “Men in Black” and “21 Jump Street” franchises overlap in some kind of mashup. That pitch from Chris Lord and Phil Miller is no longer on the front burner. Instead, Sony is focusing on finding the right female comedians to give send back to high school with badges. Rodney Rothman, the writer behind the first two “Jump Street” films, is writing the script and will direct.

Exclusive: Tiffany Haddish in Talks to Star in New 'Jump Street' Movie

Tiffany Haddish is one of the hottest names in comedy at the moment and multiple sources have told Collider that the Girls Trip star is in talks for one of the new leads in Sony’s female-driven reboot of 21 Jump Street. Sony had no comment.

Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street) is writing and directing the film, while Phil Lord and Chris Miller are expected to return as producers. Now, we know what you’re thinking. At 39 years old, isn’t Haddish a little old to be playing an undercover cop infiltrating a high school? Well, yes… if she was playing a student. But Collider hears that Haddish is going to play a teacher this time around, possibly posing as the mother of a new student — and fellow undercover cop.

As far as that role goes, multiple sources say that Awkwafina is at the top of Sony’s list, and for months I’ve heard that executives over there are big fans of the Crazy Rich Asians actress.

Haddish and Awkwafina in the same movie.

My ears.

Perfect pairing. I’m sure they could come up with comedy gold together

I’d be so down for this!!
