I've been on the fence about whether or not to trade in my Arcade for a Slim? Or Just Upgrade it Manually by Purchasing a Hardrive and Wifi individually... advice?

Man you are about a week late, because Gamestop was offering some great trade-in offers on old 360's. However I suggest you upgrade to the new slim. It's quieter and, so far, more reliable.

Well the HDD and Wifi will set you back 230 bux, while the new 360 S costs 299. I say just trade in your system and get the new 360 S.

Iv been thinking of trading in my system for the 360 S, but i dont really need it as i already have a 250 gig HDD. In your case tho, id deff get it.

O well ok thanks looks like tht what imma do

I have a question for you XBOX 360 Slim owners. Do any of you know if it supports HDMI v 1.4, or at least 1.3? Also, has Microsoft said if/when they will support 3D gaming?

I believe they are HDMI 1.2. They will not be able to work with the current 3D tech since it requires 1.4, but there are other ways to do 3D. MS has said they have some interest in 3D, but they may wait until they see a stronger demand for it.

If I recall correctly the Xbox 360 already supports 3D.

Actually, 3D is compatible with 1.3, just fyi.

Avatar and Invincible Tiger can both be played in 3D on the 360 and Crytek has stated Crysis 2 will also.

I bought a slim model a few weeks ago and much prefer it to my older premium model. For one thing, it looks a hell of a lot better (especially as I have a black TV, black home theatre, etc). It's also virtually silent compared to the noisy old one, has extra USB ports, is smaller, has the wireless built in, just a nicer product all round. I like the touch sensitive buttons for switching it on and ejecting CDs too.

That is kind of right and wrong. All 3D BluRay players and 3DTV's are HDMI 1.4, but you can use a 1.3 or high speed cable to connect them. If you connect a HDMI 1.3 source to a 1.4 TV, the signal will convert to 1.3. The 360 cannot be upgraded to 1.4, therefore cannot do the current tech being used. It can use older forms of 3D that has no dependance on HDMI specs.

The 250GB model is amazing. I've been stuck with a 20GB HDD since launch so the upgrade is mind boggling to me, and it's quiet. You can barely hear the thing even when a disc is being installed. Plus it makes really cool noises when you press the touch buttons.

If you have the cash, go for a slim it's seriously worth it. Plus I have a wireless N router and I notice a difference in speed over an Ethernet cord.

I was actually going to buy the HALO Reach edition of the XBOX, but like you, all of my gear is black and it would stick out like a sore thumb.

Does the Slim experience the Red Ring at all? I'm not gonna get a new system if it's just gonna suffer from the same problems as the old one.

Technically no, as they removed those LED's, so now if the system overheats you just get a red dot, but as for the actual problem of overheating, i think its better than the older models, but im not going to sit here and say it wont overheat ever.
