"Caught by Starfleet and facing court martial, paranoia grows as Picard struggles to uncover whether a prodigal crewman from his past has returned as an ally or an enemy hellbent on destroying them all."

After watching the trailer for this week’s Episode some thoughts:

Looks like the paranoid levels this week defo been rammed up, could there well be another Changeling on the Titan A? Also the arriving Starfleet Ship (USS Intrepid) could well be totally taken over by Changelings?

The red branches like veins could this be a “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” style situation? A Changelings bio weapon to target “Solids”? Or to turn them into Changelings?! Is this why the Changeling shapeshifting looks more organic and Cronenberg body horror in nature instead of the classic shiny liquid effect used on DS9? What if this a Great Link of one? And it's turning bio matter it's it's own Link?

That was a cameo I was not expecting. Bravo for keeping it quiet.

EDIT: LOL, just getting all the 12 Monkeys crew, I guess.

Wow. This was a fantastic episode! Absolutely loved the cameo. This is feeling like Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets The Thing meets Star Trek. Bravo to Terry Matalas and his team!

I just don't like Worf killing like an assassin. It is not Worf, the Klingon who kills without showing his face has no honor. Maybe this is one of the things he has given up, but I don't like that he has no honor now.

Huh. I always figured Ro's "betrayal" was just another level of her deep-cover assignment. It seems more plausible than Starfleet giving a dangerously undependable officer a third chance.

Worf was putting on a show for Raffi with the meditation, so that she would believe his "Kahless technique" line. We know that Worf makes up Klingon-sounding stuff (the "Gik'tal challenge") when he's being sneaky. I suspect he's working for Odo and the good (or at least treaty-keeping) Founders and has been augmented with Changeling goo.

This was an amazing episode. I did not realize Michelle Forbes was both Ro and Admiral Cain. And my memories of TNG are not that strong. I always think of Ro and Riker having the issues and relationship, not Ro and Picard. But despite that weakness in my Trek knowledge, goddamn, the actors were able to sell it, even if I did not remember it. That is one little strand from TNG that I was not expecting to see resolved, but am so, so thankful that they did.

I am frustrated that they killed her off, however, it does not anger me quite like the season 1 deaths of Icheb and Hugh did. It was more of a story beat than a way to shock and or implicate stakes. Still frustrated me, because after that episode, I damn well wanted more of Proto-Kira.

It was fun seeing Crusher being Dr Crusher again. And I have fallen in love with Ensign LaForge, she is great. Seems that they had the same thoughts I did on the stupid bloody look of the Changelings. So, clearly the writers are as big of nerds as I am.

I was not expecting Kirk Acevado as a gangster Vulcan, with the bit Vulcan symbol as bling. But it was great. Now, get some of the female 12 Monkeys cast on here Matalas. :argh::argh::argh:

Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 5: “Imposters”

Ro Laren is finally back!!!!

Even if we lost her by end of the episode it was great to get her back. Nice to see Ro and Picard get some closure, what a scene between those two in the Holodeck.

The hurt in both of there eyes when they say they broke each other’s hearts, got me in the feels!!! That goodbye and Picard saying he does see her and asking for forgiveness is heartbreaking.

I knew the Changelings more organic, Cronenberg body horror look wasn’t just a choice on the special effects crew but an in Universe explanation. After the War the Splinter Cell version of Changelings been in hiding evolving and practicing there craft until they were almost untraceable!!! The question now is how long they been Infiltrating Starfleet?!

The sass on Liam Shaw this week is always a pleasure.

Gangster Vulcan not something I thought I’d ever seen.

Jack Crusher defo a Changeling now isn’t he?! I was sure the voice he is hearing is Vadic’s but after putting on subtitles it say Beverley’s voice. When I thought it was Vadic’s I thought she could be asking him to return to there version of “The Great Link”?! If it’s now Bev’s voice could it be the anchor keeping him as “Jack”?! Could the red door be the door to his mind to the real version of himself?! He is that important The Changelings don’t want to harm him. In Jack’s vision he sees the red veins, branches over Ensign Kova Rin Esmar, could this mean she’s a Changeling?!

The AI at Daystrom Station is Moriarty?Guess that explains why he is back and it’s not Lore collecting Trek Villains to make a twisted version of The Avengers.

I've never seen a TV show turn from absolute trash to solid gold like this.

Bravo to Terry Matalas.

Terry Matalas should be the future of Star Trek. He absolutely gets it. I would love to see him create a Star Trek: Titan show and even take over Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (and remove Khan's relative from the series).

I am still not sold yet, it is an improvement but not up to snuff yet for me. There are quite a few things still off about this. Like Worf and the phaser gun noises. The phaser sounds are very distracting. But they at least improved on Riker and Picard. Also keeping Raffi was a big mistake, all her dialogue just oozes S1 and S2

La'an is great. Why would you want her out?

In my mind, I'm retconning S1&2. This should've been the only season of Picard for sure, as a limited series. A storyline that is weaving elements of TNG/DS9/VOY all in one, while having the TNG crew coming together around Picard to save starfleet and earth from a legitmately massive threat. It almost feels like the Star Trek version of secret invasion in Marvel comics and I'm loving it.

The actress is fine, however, it’s just quite ridiculous that a relative of Khan, the man who becomes Kirk’s greatest antagonist, not only is a Starfleet officer but she happens to be serving on the Enterprise under Captain Pike. Then not a single person mentions her later on in the original series or WOK. It’s like she doesn’t exist later on. This character feels like it was created for the audience to point and say, “Oh, she’s Khan relative! Remember Khan? Whoa!”

Why not make her a completely original character without any connection to Khan? Why do we need this reminder of Khan? For me, it’s sloppy writing.

The big question with Matalas getting a show all his own, would he be able to resist revisiting the temporal cold war?

I think they should just proceed with Star Trek The Third Generation myself. We need the Enterprise back - a modern version. SNW is okay, but enough with the prequel stuff.

They're setting up for (or at least leaving the door open for) a Eugenics War precursor series, if the season 2 finale of Picard is any indication. I'm guessing there's a lot more to the augments' story that Starfleet hushed up, just like it did with Discovery.

I agree but I think you can achieve the best modern version of Star Trek without the Enterprise. I’d love to see the Enterprise F, but at this point, I’m more curious about a Titan spinoff with the fantastic crew of characters we’ve been introduced to so far.

It would not shock me if Akiva Goldman and Alex Kurtzman show how bring Khan in early.

The 1701-A and the NX-01 are both at Geordi’s fleet museum, so I’m sure we’ll see them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 1701-F gets its bottle-smashing ceremony there at the end of this season, with Picard & Co. as the guests of honour, re-creating the opening act of Generations.

I believe they're already looking at mothballing the F as part of the current canon.

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F)

I think they're building up to the G for a big reveal at the end of Picard, maybe?

Or its just a reference to Arik Soong from Enterprise. Or just a way to hint at how the timeline is shaping up, with the compressing of the Eugenics War/WW3.

Ro Laren was never in love with Picard, this episode tries to imply that they love each other. Not in a mutual respect way but as an actual love interest. I don't know what the writers were watching to get that impression.

There’s more than one way to break a heart. They loved each other like father and daughter, sharing trust and pride in each other.

What? No, just no. That wasn't on the screen at all. By your logic, Sisko and Eddington were having an affair.
