To me the two most important comic book characters are Superman and Robin. Superman started the genre and Robin the Boy Wonder was the first sidekick out there, and managed to help out Batman from becoming a forgettable pulp character into one of the coolest comic book characters out there.

Marvel company started the whole thing with heroes having daily issues and drama.. But what was their first comics? I guess Spider-Man was one of the most succesful characters out there to show that the hero doesn't always win. Especially witht he birth of Bronze Age.

Either Superman or John Constantine would be my number one. The only other characters from the big two would be Spider-Man, Batman, Joker, Howard the Duck, Animal Man, and random Doom Patrol members.

Robin, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Green Arrow, Flash, and the Punisher all greater than Iron Man and the Hulk? I disagree.

Iron Man and Hulk are top 10.
