7.06 - Lara - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I never said that he has to be like the comics, but it's not unreasonable to expect that he'll ACT like every other incarnation.

You don't take Batman and make him happy-go-lucky, for instance. So why make Superman a selfish, un-trusting person?

The very nature of Superman/Clark Kent could be construed as a BIG FAT lie. However, I'm sure the point would be argued that he does it to protect people. Same situation here with the crystal.

As I've said MULTIPLE TIMES, SUPERMAN TRUSTS EVERYONE UNLESS THEY GIVE HIM A REASON NOT TO. He's not f***ing Batman for Christ's sake!

How in the Hell do you figure? Zor-El MADE it, and he entrusted it to Kara. I don't care who's DNA is on it, it's KARA's.

He DID trust kara in the first couple of episodes. it was after that whole situation with MM that realized there's more to the story. The idea of her father beign a traitor, combined with her having an explosive attitude and doing whatever she wants without caring about anyone else, caused him not to trust her anymore, as least until the end of the episode when he found out the truth.

The second statement is an opinion. you have a good arguement also. but if you take a picture of a naked celeb and try to sell it, no court will accept the fact that it's your camera and your picture. again, i think you can argue both sides.

Yes...he's 5-10 years away from the suit.
Give or take.
He shouldn't be acting like a goddamned selfish Batman wannabe. By now, he should be a f***ing hero - albeit not in the LITERAL sense.
He's not acting -anything- like a "batman wannabe", he's not brooding, he doesn't violently interrogate anyone... I don't think it's unreasonable given everything he's seen that he wouldn't completely trust Kara.

To say that Superman blindly trusts everyone he meets until he's given reason otherwise is complete BS. He finds the good in everyone, but he sure as hell doesn't automatically trust everyone.

I won't "chill out" because the writers are ruining my second favorite comic book character AND my second favorite TV show.

It's a shame that the show isn't everything you'd ever hoped and dreamed.
It's not the comics.
It's not the Animated Series.
Get over it.
Get over yourself.

:D:D

She didnt name him. She came up with the suggestion. Lara and Jor-el named him.

tomayto tomahto. She came up with the name. They liked it, she named the kid. Yes, it's not like kara held her at gun point and made them keep the name. but i always felt that should have been a connection with jor-el, or lara.

She may give him some pointers but that doesnt mean she's going to teach him. Clark taught her how to use her superhearing.

yea i know that. But the writers said in an interview that she would help accelerate that process.

Did you miss Phantom and the credits this year? Martha went to Washington and Annette O'Toole is no longer with the show. She only signed on for six season.

i usual do skip the credits, i didn't realize she's no longer with the show, which sucks cause i always liked her. I kwno she went to washington, but the story did take place there this episode, so wouldn't it make sense if she was there. i guess her not beign part of the show explains it.

You question that in a show about an alien from another planet.

you misunderstood me. I wasn't refering to the plausibility of the situation, but the story itself. I don't like the fact that she still "exists" in some form, and i really wouldn't like it if they're gonna clone her. but that's just my opinion.

One visit, by each. And all the portals were closed, so that Zod and his army couldnt escape Krypton.

they made it sound like she comes visits that place a lot. maybe that incident was teh last one, but they made it sound like they come visit the place alot. I could be wrong.

Well I'm not a comic books reader, but I believe that storyline is from the comics. Also Supergirl the Movie, Jimmy and Kara had a thing going.

interesting, i didn't know. well i take that back then.

i agree. where is this batman nonsense coming from? i didn't any batman like qualities in him.

Are you asking why I would say such a thing? :woot: Firstly, you know me well enough to know that I think the world of Clark Kent. But the fact that he hides his true identity from everyone, is undisputably a lie. Its his reasons for doing it that make it acceptable and honourable, but a lie nonetheless and I was correlating that fact with the reasons for Clark hiding the crystal from Kara.

Does that make more sense? :cwink:

Yes, it does, Thanks! :woot:

But I wouldn't call it a lie. I'd say it's to keep a secret for very good reasons. And a secret that's certainly his to keep. :yay:

Actually, Kara had nothing to do w/ Jimmy in the movie. It was her roommate that was dating Jimmy.:cwink:

It's been a while :cwink: ..... but didnt Kara have a thing for him too? Maybe I am getting her confused with Lucy.

That movie was very unforgettable. :O

I don't recall her really liking Jimmy at all. I think Lucy made a comment to Kara to leave her man alone or some nonsense. Kara was more googly eyed by that construction worker guy.

LOL. I think:huh:

does it really matter? nobody remembers the movie anyway. lol

Lucy and Jimmy were dating in the movie. Kara fell for the construction guy that was obsessed with her... campiest movie ever, but fun!

I think you, sir, should get over yourself.

You see, I was merely discussing a TV show. Now, you've made it personal. There are many things I could say to you, but you're not WORTH the ban. :o

You said you were "PISSED" about a tv show. I simply think you should get over it. If you've got something to say, that would get you banned. Feel free to pm me.

What I liked:
Kara- how did she learn to be such a tease? wow.. I feel for the lab-tech, though.. what a downer.. At least Jimmy managed to get some lip action. score!

Seeing Helen Slater as Lara. Nice tribute.

Seeing more of Lana's secret project. Though more secrets remain..

what I didn't like:
Again, Lex's study at his mansion is more or less an open bazaar.. I wonder does he fire his security staff weekly?

What I just didn't understand:
Lionel's 11th hour intervention-- did he shoot the agent with a tranquilizer dart, or did he kill him outright? if it's the latter, then.. ah, never mind.. and were there security cameras in that lab?
Now that Lionel knows Kara's secret.. will he keep it, especially since Clark initially lied about her being from Jon's side of the family..

Did Lara, Kara and Zor-el all visit Earth together, or did they come separately?

After this revelation, it's clear (to me) that Zor-El and Jor-El both are kind of, well, jerks..

After Zor-el busts down the door, did he bother to fix it? Or were the Kents left to assume that they'd just been vandalized?

Uh... just WHEN did Clark find the blue crystal? So far, the show's never portrayed him as much of a detective.. and why bother mentioning the DNA unless.. nah, I can't go there..
