72 year old Wal-Mart greeter gets punched in the face by customer

Fett is the only good Star Wars character. Mainly because we know so little about him. Saved him from the fail that is Lucas.

Although, he was an annoying little kid....

Plus he looks badass.

Wal-Mart greeters should form a gang.

Their kind greeting is the last thing you hear.

Actually it's not. It perpetuates the stereotype that Boba Fett is cool, when we all know that's not true.

Bobba Fett is bad ass. He should have his own series of movies. But he can't, cause if he did the Earth would explode from awesomeness.

That's all he does, is look badass. He stood in the background, then Vader gave him Solo, then he hung around Jabba's palace for months because he's apparently a free-loader and then he flies around a bit and goes Sarlacc diving.

I know right? Boba Fett is the ****. He survived the Sarlacc. Which is awesome.

Yes, EU stuff counts. Lucas said so. Or so I think he did....

I saw the Star Wars movies, and I have no idea why people think Boba Fett is cool. It's like saying Ghost was one of the best characters from The Matrix. Oh, he might've done something cool in a spin-off on another medium, but he did jack-diddly in the actual movies.

Theres more. A lot more. Not in the movies.

I take that the same way I take the evolution of Batman and Wolverine. The fans latch onto small aspects of it that work in small doses (Boba Fett, Batman's brooding, Wolverine's bestial rage) and since it's popular that aspect gets overblown and winds up making the whole thing suck.

I'm not talking about books dedicated to Fett, for example - I'm talking about his appearances in various books in a similar vein to that in ESB.

There are a ton of really interesting characters and stories in the novels, and George Lucas' go-ahead is about as much input as he generally has in them.

I'm talking about the movies. Star Wars is a film series, so everything else is pretty much authorized fan fiction as far as I'm concerned, and fan obsession with Fett got nearly an entire prequel dedicated to tying him into the greater story.

What a jerk...no walmart sticker from old greeters for him :o

The idea that stormtroopers were clones came from the novels (among a plethora of other things), so I don't think it's fair to call them "fan fiction" - especially considering that it's actually well-written (as opposed to much of the dialogue in the movies - particularly the prequels).

What a very useful thread hijack and discussion! Boba Fett totally relates to the original topic. Thanks Hype!

And...fans don't write the books or novels. Authors do who get paid to do so. Fan fiction are stories written by fans to entertain readers.
