8 Months Later...

All X titles will be dropped and everyone is moving to other books

Where was this confirmed or rumored? We just started a slew of new X-Men books and I don't think we have the list of new 50+ #1's for this fall. Axel just said he needs to sell alot of X books.

I also don't get Marvel's logic of dropping a lower selling book like F4 to spite Fox but putting Doom, Sue and Reed in their main event for the summer right before the film comes out. Or putting Thing on a team with Rocket. Doesn't that just boost their appeal since these books have more readers then F4? Doesn't make sense.

"Flag cape man" isn't a new character. Can't believe no one recognizes him. That is Citizen V of the original Thunderbolts (the costume was first worn by Baron Zemo then later someone else started wearing it).

I doubt that there won't be any X-men titles. The comics have been mostly unaffected by the rights wars (aside from promotion). The X-comics keep getting top Marvel creative talent and important roles in big events.

where they are made out to be the villians and troll material to boost up the other Marvel characters

Agreed

I really don't get where the "No X-Titles" rumor started.

And thanks to Will Nolte for identifying Citizen V!

I think most people around here knew the X-books weren't going anywhere, at least a few flagship titles

the question was more if they're being relegated off to the side, separated from the main 616, and being kept out of merchandising, animation, and video games

it's interesting that Marvel is going in pretty much the complete opposite direction of "Synergy" between its lines
Feige/Perlmutter: "We want comics people seeing the movies can check out"
Alonso: "Okay, we'll put out one crappy MCU tie-in comic, and then in the real comics, we'll gender and race swap all our characters to really confuse the s*** out of people"

I will be more excited when the FF returns (some time after the movie disappears).

You forgot mind swap with a villain.

Sounds like they made the perfect jumping-off point for readers. :funny:

For those over the age of 35, yes.

Tom Brevoort should be punched square in the face. "Marvel Reassembled" by doubling down on pure crap.

I know, right? Attracting new customers, since when did that ever do a company any good? :o

X-23 confirmed?

Anyone else notice that rocket is flipping the bird?

Hooded guy is Dr. Doom.

From Secret Wars #3:

Nope, it's Karnak.

I sure hope it's X-23. No need to pull a new character out of their hat when they've got a great one waiting to take on the mantle. And looks like Old Man Logan's sticking around too. Plus Thing, so no, they aren't ignoring all Fox properties.

But this newest picture is very intruiging. Who is Flag-Cape man, hooded guy, and the lady in the top left? Why does Brother Strange/Doctor Voodoo have a giant axe?

Either way, I'm liking a lot of what I see.

Yes, it's X-23
Flag-Cape man is indeed Citizen V, but it's not confirmed who is wearing the costume afaik
Lady in the top left is Doctor Spectrum. There are several characters with that name, but this one is a Green Lantern analogue introduced last year in New Avengers Vol 3 #16

Thanks, SirStragefolk!

And for further clarification, the individual portraits are on "the site that shall not be names".

I am not crazy at all about Daredevil going back to the "shadowland" color scheme. The black just does not look as good to me as the red costume.

I wonder if any of the creative teams will be moved over after Secret Wars? I'd hate to lose Nick Spencer from Ant-man.

After enjoying (I think...?) the Superior Iron Man series (read the first arc anyway), but hating the character of Superior Iron Man, I am pretty stoked for Bendis and Marquez to take up that book.

Yeah, I agree with that. They often cheat in the comics by using shadow to color him in black with a red outline, but I don't like the true black uniform. Just make it a dark red and I guarantee it'll be fine.

Considering that most of the books are ending and new ones are launching, the answer is obviously yes

It's not obvious. Some books are only a few issues in.

Its obvious because we already know for a FACT that a ton of them are ending. Marvel released this. A ton of new #1s are launching in the wake of Secret Wars. Again fact. It stands to reason that many creators that were working on one book at the start of the year will be on different projects by the end

A ton of new #1s are starting, but are any old books continuing? Would any books keep the same artist or writer with a new #1, which has happened before (e.g., Mark Waid on Daredevil)?
