I hate to say this as its my favourite country to visit but Italy does seem to still have quite a degree of racism & anti-Semitism.

It kind of says all that you need to here on the matter that Members of the nationalist League party, led by Matteo Salvini, the centre-right Forza Italia and the far-right Brothers of Italy all abstained from the vote in Milan last week.

I think that by doing that to her they justified her need to create such an anti-hate parliament.
