9-1-1: Lone Star - Starring Rob Lowe

Premieres tonight after the game.

It's not half bad. Not as good as 911, but I also feel like its moving a little fast to try to catch up, if that makes any sense.

Like NCIS:New Orleans or CSI Miami/New York. Same show, different cast and will the cast draw you in.. Although set in Austin, to say "Texas" many of the rescues seem to be happening on farms compared to the mothership which seems to travel all over LA like Emergency did back in the day.

Where as the original had the outsider coming in as Captain, gay characters and interracial relations on Lone Star the intersectional status seems to be the reason for the characters with them being unreal as the kinks are worked out. It did take a full season for that to happen in LA but Lone Star has advantage of the template being in place as the characters go beyond their category to being full rounded people.

As of now we have a silly Captain versus Captain story as if there is only one shift and one Captain at a fire station so only one survives. When the fake drama storyline wraps up and we get back to wacky rescues of the week it should survive to give the LA crew a break in production since we are moving towards 10 instead of over 20 hours of episode a season for all of TV.

Original 911 is so much better but I think I give it a shot. After 2 episodes in and as a non US-citizen, is the portrayel of Texas... accurate?
It feels like a caricature.
