A Kid Drops Out Of School For Guitar Hero

Agreed, it's just a videogame. No, you won't learn how to play guitar from it, but after playing COD4, do you think you'll be able to kill terriorists with rocket launchers?

If you can, I salute you.

Well actually I can. Also, after 3 kills I get a UAV.

Give me their addresses.

To experience something new in a possible social setting and having some fun with it in the process.

Look, I was just like you. I thought Guitar Hero was the dumbest thing ever, until I actually played it and had some fun. It's not my favorite game ever but yeah, I have fun playing against friends and such.

I have fun playing real guitar in a social setting, I dont think taking up a simulation of this would do anything for me.

Maybe, maybe not. You've made up your mind already without playing a second of the game. I guess we'll never know.

I've never bothered to waste my time, I play the real thing so why would I bother? :whatever:

My old guitarist has the same attitude about Guitar Hero. Hates it with a passion, even if he gets that it's more or less just a party game. I've noted that musicians, of which I am, are more likely to view this new video game phenomenon with disdain than people who aren't musicians. Not sure the reasons for that; could be the "wannabe" factor or maybe they feel like it marginalizes the time and hard work they've put into their craft and their instrument. I guess I view it for what it is; a party game and time waster but it in no way means the people who are playing it are musicians by any stretch of the imagination. However, I do know some of my nephews friends that were really into Guitar Hero took up actual guitar lessons because they got to the point where they realized they couldn't create anything of their own with the game. So, Guitar Hero piqued their interest enough to make them want to pursue the real thing. And one of those kids is actually pretty damn good, too. He hasn't played Guitar Hero in months because he's too busy practicing with his new axe. So, if a game will pull a few kids into the world of music...real music...then maybe it's not such a bad thing.

He will regret it. I don't think anyone can play games for a living, especially a young person. As time goes on,you get older..and what's the image for a older person playing games? Not good. So,basically he signed his death wish.

Everyone is making fun of this kid but when some music label gives him a record contract to play his music who will be laughing then? Hmmm? :)

In what part of Bizarro World is this going to happen?

Absurd yes, but nearly on caliber with the insanity that some World of Warcraft fans will submit to.

Feel good story of the year.

Hardcore WoW players scare me. One of my best friends was left by his wife because she met some guy online playing WoW, inducted him into her guild which she was the VP of, and then fell in "love" with him over the computer.

Sounds about right. I have read stories about people ruining their marriages over Wow. I think there was even a suicide.

I used to play RPG's years ago, and one of the main reasons I stopped was too many people confused fantasy with reality.

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :lmao:

That's 10x better than the thread topic. Oh, god, the dude was probably some ugly larper too. Did she ever meet him, or did they just have a "relationship" while slaughtering goblins?

My advice to the paresnt....let him play until he is 18....then kick him out of the house, change the locks on the doors, rent out his room to someone else, and call the cops on his ass when he tries to crawl back in the window because he's starving to death and tired of living in a cardboard box NEXT to the guy living in a van down by the river.

Oh, and yeah....they should drive by his cardboard condo every now and then and laugh.

That would be even worse parenting. Don't give him the skills he needs to take care of himself, then throw him out of the house .. so he can't take care of himself. :whatever:

Supposedly she did go to meet this guy, the weekend she told my buddy that she was ending their 13 year marriage because she loved the WoW guy. It took my friend some time to process it and of course he was devastated but I have to say, he's handled it very well and is working hard to make it a positive for himself. He divorced her and made sure she got stuck with all the debt from the marriage. She, however, is still living in WoW-Land living her fantasy life. Kind of sad, when you think about it.

Well he has to learn to not live like a sheltered idiot SOMEHOW. He'll definitely want to go back to school after about a day of that. :o

That was suppose to go to Casey.

Wow (pun intended :o)...do you have any idea what he looks like?

Nope. Not a clue. Doesn't matter what he looks like, though. He's still a WoW Romeo who picks up women in an RPG; he can't be THAT cool.

He didn't seem interested in much of anything in high school (a Christian academy where his parents had enrolled him)
No wonder he hated school :o

I see jail time in this kid's future.
