BTW, Charles Darwin is one of the GOATs.

To figure out something so essential, yet so obvious it boggles the mind we didn't figure it out sooner.

And he did it without the aid of DNA = certifiable badass.

Time to be productive. Already got a nap in and just popped a 5-hour energy. Need to get all this new equipment situated in my room since I can barely walk around in here. Also want to test out my new speakers and sub.

Where are phases 2-6 of this process?

Aziz, this is a simplified graphic. There have been thousands of sub-species of humans throughout the evolution process. Go look up the Smithsonian on a virtual tour. They have a huge wall of skulls with hundreds of the different variations.

That's a crude, symbolic representation. It's not meant to be studied.

If you want to see fossils, consult Google. We have plenty going back to Australopithecus.

If women came from men's ribs, why are there still ribs?

Checkmate monotheism!

I have a hard time understanding people actually literally believing women grew out of a man's rib bone.
Easier than believing we gradually evolved from tree dwelling primates by the trial and error of natural selection, mutation, and population bottlenecks due to environmental catastrophes over hundreds of millions of years.

It was a rib that turned into a woman.

My dad whipped that card out once, and I just internally facepalmed.

Yea, because there's only one kind of ape...

I've heard that exact line from my parents before. I don't think people who question/reject evolution are stupid, but plenty of their arguments are.

For example my mom insists that, since humans are special and created in God's image, the idea that we evolved from a lower-life form is heresy - this makes no sense when you consider that Genesis says God created us out of dirt.

For the record I am religious but I just don't see any point in denying something that totally 100% factually happened.

I think you hit the nail on why it's so hard to imagine for some. This notion that our existence is any more special, even 'noble' than any other animals on the planet. I think this is also the reason why it took us so comparatively long to discover evolution in the legacy of scientific history. It's just so obvious. Like D'OH.

There is a large vocal swath of people that hold these idiotic world views but there is an even larger amount of individuals like you and me who have no problem understanding science is a fact and does not disprove one's faith/spirituality.

Well I sort of have two minds on this. I believe that we are created in God's image and all that, but we're also just animals. Bags of meat floating on a speck of dust hanging in endless nothing. From a scientific perspective that much is undeniable.

I truly don't think science and religion are incompatible, and I'm saddened that so many still think this way. You'd think the church would have learned it's lesson after imprisoning Galileo. Let's not impede progress because it might make us rethink our belief system - if something can be destroyed by truth, it should be.

Yup. A lot of people lack the humility to admit that we are not that important. It also factors into the "life after death" question, where people think it's impossible that life just ends for us. We're so special that there has to be some sort of sequel to our lives.

Finished Fury Road this afternoon. Pretty danged cool! I liked it alot!

I myself find it pretty liberating. That we are made of the same essential stuff as other animals and trees. It broadens my empathy.

.....I still eat meat though.

Just came back from seeing Fantastic Beasts. It was very good. :D

Does it have the same "flavor" as the other films?

I thought so. I had read a review that characters were flat or whatever but I didn't feel that way at all. I was very entertained. :)

We were talking about this over in the simulation thread. I def think there is something after and if not it doesn't really matter since it will be exactly like all the things I remember and experienced before I was born.

People you know Christmas is coming when 'Cool Running's ' is finally listed to show on TV.
