Excitement that did not match the actual product (to put it lightly). I've had other trailers that didn't live up to the hype, like Prometheus, Spider-Man 3 and the Matrix sequels, but nothing disappointed me as completely as the hot mess that was Phantom Menace.
Even when it came out, I remember being on cloud nine after getting home from the theater, being an impressionable, easily satisfied 14-year-old Star Wars geek.
When Episode II came out, I don't know if it was because I was a little older or the scenes were just that bad, but I remember wincing in the theater at the "romantic" scenes.
