Just read an article on Cracked today about misleading marketing in movies

Me too. I think the most misleading marketing Ive ever seen and one they mentioned was Bridge to Terabetha (sp). I still remember the people *****ing about that one. It wasnt that they left an aspect of the movie out of the trailers so much as the film in the trailers doesnt really exist at all.

After the couple of months of getting things ready, tomorrow I go back to college after a six year break. Today is the last day of summer freedom before my classes start tomorrow.

Didn't see the film but from what I read the marketing department on that one was wrong for pulling that

I wish I could go back to college, study something cool. Sadly I can't unless I have monies. So I have to stay where I am :(

You can get funding to do open uni and distance learning stuff. Just look into it before signing up for anything. Turned out I could have saved an extra £200 on my Forensics courses...

The trailer and marketing team also lied about the genre of the film. In the trailer its presented as fantasy/adventure. There is no fantasy at all in the film. Its a coming of age story about a boy with an overactive imagination.

Im just curious and if you dont want to answer I completely understand. How much total did it cost you to go to college? In the US even at a local community college Im looking at a tuition of $12,000 a year. im gonna try to get help, but its a money racket on my side of the pond.

It can be pretty expensive, but in at the start of the year the place I enrolled in did some price cuts on selected courses. Plus I found I could get funding so this initial course cost me only £450, which isn't bad. But cutting it down to £250 would have been bloody fantastic.

I went back as a mature student. My course cost me €2,750. It will go up every year. Hopefully I get a grant in September.

Even when it came out, I remember being on cloud nine after getting home from the theater, being an impressionable, easily satisfied 14-year-old Star Wars geek.

When Episode II came out, I don't know if it was because I was a little older or the scenes were just that bad, but I remember wincing in the theater at the "romantic" scenes.

If we're being completely honest, Lucas is awful at the human element. I'm not talking about the greater dynamics, like Darth being Luke's father. I'm talking about the more subtle social interactions. The interpersonal connections of his characters always seem a bit distant and uncanny valley-ish. He can't elicit natural emotions from his actors, and his dialogue is sometimes unbearable, like fan-fiction bad (see some of Anakin's gems from the prequels). He always has been bad at this really, but the concepts and story were so great and fresh in the original movies that people overlooked this glaring deficit. Rewatch the originals; there's some awful dialogue and stilted emotions in those films too. But he only became worse with the new films and he this time he didn't have a great storyline to distract people from how bad it was.

I think this sums it up well:

If ONLY the dialogue was that natural. :o

Yeah thats not too bad, and £250 would have been a steal compared to some course prices. I could actually afford something like that out of pocket quite easily.

I still have friends who won't see the film despite it being a great adaption of the book because of that trailer.

Awesome C. Lee. What did u think of Guardians of the Galaxy?

Haven't been able to see it yet. My recent operation has kept me pretty much home bound for awhile.

You just need to research it all first. I did like two months worth of seeing how I could get money off stuff.

The one that kept me away from the Hype a couple of months this summer.

He was taking a dip in the Lazarus Pit.

Hope you get to see Guardians soon. I had a blast watching it and laughed a lot.
