Is Beverly Hills Cop 2 better then Beverly Hills Cop:huh:

I don't know....I think theres better action scenes in this one, and I think the comedy is a little better as well. Plus Rosewood has a bigger role, how do you not like that?

The storyline was too preposterous. It's been many many years since I saw it...so let's see if my recap is correct....

Axle plans on going fishing with Ronny Cox (even though Cox hated him in the first one)....Cox is attacked because he is on the trail of the "Alphabet Criminals" (pretty dumb master criminals since he apparently figures out who they are after only 2 jobs)....Cox's daughter (where the hell did she show up from?) calls her good pal Axle to tell him the news (like I said, they originaly didn't like each other, and there had been no mention of a daughter)......then you have things like the Beverly Hills Police Chief cursing and shouting and bullying everyone (yeah, I can see the people of Beverly Hills hiring that guy).....and it just goes on and on.

It was a B movie....lots of shooting, crashes, explosions, scantily clad women, cool music.....but no substance. It was fine for a Saturday night out with friends....but not much more.

That's all my opinion of course....

I liked BH2 because it was less comedy, more action/suspense... Personally I'm a huge Tony Scott fan so I absolutely love what he did with it however maybe it's because I'm really tired but I'm drawing blanks outside of that :(

I like both movies, but the original is better because Axel is not only the outsider but the opposite of the Beverly Hills officers. In the sequel he looks too good. In the first movie he's driving around in a piece of crap car and wearing an old sweater. In the second one he looks nice and is driving a new car. They basically ruined the character right there! He's not supposed to look good. He's supposed to be a poor Detroit cop. Thats the whole point of the first movie! Here's this kid from Detroit who uses his street knowledge in Beverly Hills to solve the crime. In the second one he's just COOL.

Everyone makes pretty valid points. For some reason when it was on tonight, im sitting there thinking wow this movie is chalked full of cool action scenes and its frigging hilarious. Granted the first one is real funny but I didn't think it had nearly as much action...obviously because of the addition of Tony Scott. I agree the character is different, but I still enjoyed him all the same.
