I suppose it sounds better than I expected, but still not great. I don't understand what the deal is with Fox and things like Shenron, Galactus, and Sentinels. Do they seriously not understand that this is the kind of stuff people really want to see? And not just fans--the general audience, too. It's not even debatable. A Shenron appearance--a real appearance, handled by capable filmmakers, not this nerfed behind-the-clouds Shenron--would be something to behold. The potential for true artistry in such a scene would be staggering. Very disappointing. The DragonBall franchise is weak in many aspects--mainly storytelling ones--but can be incredibly strong visually, and it needs that advantage. Nerfing the visuals will not serve the film; they should be enhanced, not diluted.

It was an unfinished cut of the movie and we already know there will be reshoots and stuff. So I figure if the movie's that good in its unfinished state, then it might be a near masterpiece when it's finally completed.

Yeah he got it a 6.5 even though he said it was solid. 2 of his negatives were about Chi Chi and Mai who nobodies interested in.

The Dragon thing annoys me though i hope they change it but i doubt it.

You know I can understand Galactus being hidden behind the clouds to save the reveal of his true self for the potential Silver Surfer movie, but Shenron or Shenlong should be seen in all his glory and the sight of him should emit terrifyingly awesome power.

I will say though, for as much crap as I've heard about this and how dissapointed I've been, this seems to be a shining light in a more positive direction. Here's to hoping for more.

Shenlong covered by clouds? It sounds real. I guess we should blame Rothman for that... he doesn't like giant stuff in "his" movies (Sentinel in X3, Galactus, and now Shenlong)

If I remember correctly, Rothman turned down Transformers for Fox saying "There won't be any giant robots in any of my movies"

well max payne showed us that FOX will never change.

this review looks like DB will be again a classic fox movie.

This review gives me some hope for the movie. The fact that it's the same guy from the anime who does the voice of the dragon is awesome... i just hope it (the dragon) being hidden behind clouds is only because they haven't finished the CGI?

But it IS Fox.. and ye gods.. they always screw this stuff up. But now, more than ever, I can't wait to see the big fight scene between Goku & Piccolo.

The "review" actually boosted my hopes for the movie by giving Justin and Goku portrayal in a good light. I was surprise about the Yamcha being goos kudos to Joon. With less than 5 months they can add a dragon and trim those high school scenes. Throw in a cameo of Krillin finee tune the CGI and we can possibly have a decent movie that could warrant a seuel.

He said the School stuff was for the 1st 22 mins but some of that will be the training between Goku and Gohan at the start.

Should be around 15 mins altogether.

The scene hes knocked off his bike.

The scene in the class.

The scene at the party.

so again: the CGI shots are not finished. so they spend time and money to make a different CGI shot where they couldnt see the dragon because the final CGI shot of the dragon is not finished?

From the way it was described it sounded like a relatively quick and cheap scene. something that would look cleaner than the unfinished post-production shots of the dragon...

It's just a guess, a theory, a possibility... i'm not saying i know for certain, because i won't until the movie comes out.
