Horror A "Wolfman" Reboot Already Underway

Trailer will probably be next week, so we'll get clarification then.

Not gonna lie I kinda like it.

I can see it working in film with proper lighting.

Yeah, I have to wonder how thrilled Whannell is that this is the context for everyone’s first look at the monster.

I mean that does look genuinely terrifying. Very curious to see what Whannell’s take on the character is.

Leigh Whannell made Upgrade (2018), and that film was amazing, so I'm not judging anything until I watch the movie.

It looks more like a feral zombie hobo than a werewolf. It also looks much worse than makeup from over 80 years ago so hopefully that's just a cheapo theme park version of it.

I imagine people would have a similar reaction to the Brundlefly if it's reveal was like this.
Even if I take out the fact that the design looked much better, you're talking about a 40 year old film with possibly much smaller budget, so I beg to differ.

Given your and many others snap judgements on an out of context creature design, I don't see a reason to believe you'd have a measured response back then either. It's fine, I just have a wait and see mindset with this. I feel this director has earned it.

So weird that there's not even a trailer out but we got the reveal first.

Well, it’s kind of the studio’s fault for putting this out as our first look in broad daylight with some random actor under the makeup moving around. I don’t know who approved that.

And who says I'm not? This thing may look much better in the film and in any case it won't make or break the movie for me. It could translate better on screen and even if I end up hating the design in the final product I may end up loving the movie, which is what ultimately matters. I just said that the last thing it reminds me of is a wolf.

Yeah, incredibly boneheaded marketing move. And if you want to capitalize on this for your Halloween events, why are you releasing this movie IN JANUARY instead of for Halloween?!?

Like others have said, though, Whannel has earned the benefit of the doubt.

Even the Wolfman is looking at this like, "WTF is that?"

Realistically, even if you think the design is bad…

I mean, it’s the Wolf Man. Is the Wolf Man. I’d say he’s the Ringo Starr of the Universal Monsters crew, but honestly that might be disrespectful to Ringo.

You’ll live.

Nahh the Wolfman is at least George. Creature from the Black Lagoon...now that'sa Ringo.
