ABC remaking "Charlie's Angels"

Speaking of those two, they should team with Helen Mirren and make a new, hipper movie version of Charlie's Angels. :D

Aging Agnels? :D

I just don't believe in singling any of the actors out. I'm not saying any of them are exactly masters of their craft, but if anything, they're all on the same level here and the writing isn't helping.

It's just hard for me to agree that Minka was the weakest of the bunch, when Annie was as dull as ten day old dishwater and Rachael Taylor, arguably the best of the three, came across as really awkward in her role.

I agree, mind you poor Rachel taylor did get "I didn't know my heart could hurt this much" and "Bring it" to chew on.

How was the rating for CA? I hope it did decent at the Nielsen rating.

The pilot was terrible, but if they had given us some T&A, it might have been worth watching.

I don't know what Drew Barrymore's influence is, but this series shouldn't be afraid to be an updated "Jiggle-com" like the 70s show was.. they might as well embrace the cheesecake, TNA, whatever you want to call it, especially if the network is serious about competing with cable and whatever else.. :hrt:
I mean, nobody's really buying them as hardboiled private eyes, are they?

I think it's Drew Barrymore's influence that makes this series so bland. Those 3 leads are completely lacking in charisma.

I'd lean that more towards Gough and Miller, since their last show had one of the most bland and charisma-less actors ever, front and center.

Yup. As soon as I saw Gough-Millar in the credits, I knew this show would suck.

Don't throw Smallville under the bus. Tom Welling was hardly Emmy-worthy, but he didn't even touch on the level of blandness and ****ty dialogue that was shown here. No one on Smallville did. Well..... no one except Pete Ross. :o

I agree. At least I could sit through Smallville, especially its pilot. I hated the finale episode of the series, and there were some other duds, but on the whole the series wasn't as painful to watch as Charlie's Angels. I can't even stick around for the appearance of Erica Durance.

Now see, if Erica had been an Angel instead, even there you would've had more charisma and personality in one of the actresses.

Charlie's Angels feels really like a daytime soap opera or late night TV movie with very bland actors and awful dialogue.

Erica Durance will guest star? Damn. They tricked me into watching another episode. When is her episode airing?

IMDB says October 6. Although what's worse is they have John Terry, Jack's dad in Lost, to play the blonde's father.

October 6? Gonna have to DVR that. Otherwise, I'll forget. Hopefully she'll be in a bikini.

Minka was the only one who was vaguely interesting and held my attention.

:wow: You can't possibly compare Tom Welling to these actresses. I'm not saying he's Emmy worthy, but he has talent and a decent amount of screen presence. The actresses from Angels are forgettable.

I agree. Welling wasn't great at all, but he was more watchable than those three angels. They are extremely unmemorable.

I'm not saying they should've done this at all, but even if we had any combination of the girls from Smallville as the angels if we were seeing them on screen together for the first time - eg Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, Allison Mack, Laura Vandervort, Kristin Kreuk - that at least would've been more memorable and less bland than the three we've been given.

Maybe they should start over and get Durance, Mack and Kreuk to be the Angels. The only one of the Angel's who didn't embarrass themselves was Nadine Velazquez from Earl and that's only because she got killed in the first 15 minutes. I don't see this show lasting the year and ABC needs a spot on their schedule for the Hulk TV show in fall 2012 so it all works out in the end.

Rachel Taylor didn't look anything like she did from the Transformers movie if I didn't know it was the actress I would never have made the connection.

Well let's not take my previous post too far. I did say if we were seeing them onscreen together for the first time. As it stands, we have seen them all together before. I wouldn't want to see those three at all, as this would not seem like Charlie's Angels but Smallville 2.0.

If they wanted to start over, they could only get ONE of these actresses I mentioned, and 2 completely different ones from other series - eg off the top of my head: Erica Durance from Smallville, Amber Heard from The Playboy Club, Erica Cera from Eureka. Even that would be a stronger cast than what we have. They're different enough from each other and have stronger personalities.

That was one of the things about the original 70s series. Each actress of the original 3-4 were memorable enough in their own right, so when you brought them together, there was synergy. With this latest version of Charlie's Angels, they're relying on people liking them as a trio, but none of them are really memorable at all in their own right individually.

^ I was thinking just yesterday that Erica Durance and Amber Heard would be awesome as Angels. :woot:

If they're trying to set themselves up as the next Hawaii Five-0, they should've taken more cues from that series. Each of the main 5-0 actors individually are stronger than the three Angels put together. They have a much more impressive line-up.

I think Angels should've had a mix of familiar actresses and maybe one fresh face. I personally would've liked it if they were playing the same characters as the original series - Kelly Garrett, Sabrina Duncan and Jill Munroe, and perhaps later joined by Chris Munroe. That's one of the things about 5-0. Even if people aren't familiar with the actors, they may be already familiar with the characters so there is an instant level of affinity towards them.

This show bombed big time down here, they tried to promote the crap out of it using Rachel Taylor as the draw, who clearly has no drawing power.

^ They put it up against The X-Factor, which was stupid.

It'll probably end up on 'Go'.

I thought this weeks was a lot better, especially the case.

To think, she was a lot better in Transformers.

Don't get too attached. There's reports that ABC is already thinking about cancelling the show.
