I hope she does, the freak thing has been played to death recently and considering the typical americans desire for fame I somehow doubt that most people would actually have anything against having super powers. Somehow I can't shake the feeling that if a family like this got super powers in real life the first thing they'd do is try to get a reality tv show...
Depends on the family. I am a father and a husband, and I know if this impossible thing happened to me and my family, putting it out there would be the LAST thing I'd want. Not only will it give unwanted notoriety from strangers towards my family I wouldn't want, I'd be genuinely concerned about scientists (not necessarily the gov't) wanting to study us all to death.
Chiklis's character seems to be the sort that would feel the same way.

On another note and discussion, I read a discussion about superspeed and perception thereof while speeding on another board. People were speculating about Stephanie's perception of everything slowing down while she was going fast indicates some kind of time-warping ability.
This isn't necessarily true, and I'll explain.
As someone that loves fast cars, I've gone fairly fast in cars in my day. I've gone past 150 MPH before, and I can tell you, once I got back to freeway speeds of 70-80 MPH, the freeway speed felt like I was going 40 MPH. I'm sure there are others here that have experienced something similar.
For anyone that's ever heard of the BBC show "Top Gear," you'd probably know who James May is. He tested the Bugatti Veyron's top speed capabilities a couple of years ago, after Bugatti claimed it as the fastest road car in the world, capable of 253 MPH (it has since been topped by the Veyron SS, capable of 267 MPH--also tested by James). James did manage to get the Veyron to 253. What's relevant about the 253 MPH test is that James recounted how warped his sense of speed was. After he slowed down from 250+ MPH, he got to the point where he was going to walk out of the car. Fortunately, he looked down at the speedo and realized he was still going 70 MPH! Even without super reflexes, which Stephanie would surely have, our brain is faster than we all realize, allowing for us to adjust perceptions as needed.
