I hope they don't cast someone who is too short for the role.

In my opinion, Tobey never had the ideal Spider-Man physique. He was only 5'8'' and didn't have that lean long limbed look Spider-Man always has. Similar to the taller male Olympic gymnasts. At the very least, I'd like whoever is cast in the role to grow up to at least 5'10''.

What do you guys think?

i think its hard to get an actor who has muscles like a gymnast

Tobey's height was actually appropriate. Spidey's not a tall guy.

Thin and sinewy... He should definitely be more Spider-like this time around.

Less John Romita, more Steve Ditko...

He should be more spidery this time around in his movements too, I agree.

Maguire actually had an ideal physique in SM1. So I give him props for that.
In SM2 it looked like he hadn't bothered working out.

Whoever portrays PP/SM this time needs to get into that type of shape- slim but buff and cut, and be in the 5:8- 5:10 range.

Being 5:8 and a half I would actually be perfect in the lead role, only thing is at 29 and with no acting resume, I'm prob unintelligible for High School PP/SM.

slim/skinny
suit padding can make him look cut

that imho is how spidey should look, especially a 15 year old spidey. romita made spidey look like the hulk

Maguire had a great build for Spider-Man. We'll see how they about for these next films

I might say something along the lines of (an I am just using him as an example, here) Anton Yelchin's physique, in Alpha Dog

Okay, I think that this thread should be closed, someone is breaking out the naked boys...

I need to point out that padded suits and skinny guys (pics above) r totally lame.

Maguire in SM1 had the physique down, whoever the new Spider-Man is needs to replicate that.
Spider-Man is not a string bean with no muscles;- he's frickin RIPPED!

efron?

I'm guessing he has no muscles in which case how is he perfect?

Efron as Spidey would be terrible.

efron is ripped now....but yeah hed be terrible but he was just talking about physique wise...

no clue...just saw a pic and heard that he had been using roids to beef up...hes in crazy shape now...

Trying to make himself look like a man I'd guess.

im confused i thought we were discussing physique...my mistake

in relation to physique, efron has the right aesthetic for spidey.

he has good muscular development on his frame without looking like a body builder, hes is athletic looking which is what spidey should have build wise.

I did not say he would be right for the role but physique wise he is right which is what we where discussing here

I've always felt Tobey's physique was best in the first movie, but it was too bulky for Spidey.

I've always felt his body should be like a gymnast's mixed with a dancer's.

yeah id agree with that, but without being to over developed in the arms so he still remains in proportion

no clue...just saw a pic and heard that he had been using roids to beef up...hes in crazy shape now...

Weird.

Also roids are pathetic, if your gonna get in shape do it the real way; - without performance enhancers, otherwise what is it worth?- Nothing.

Spidey has muscles, prob more of a wirey Ditko esque Spidey is best for the first film, but by the second movie he needs some beefcake goin on like Romita Spidey.

Romita Spidey is after all the most iconic version.

Ah, I just googled it, he ain't that buff.

I got more, heh.

lol fair play, efron is just athletic, like most actors in films they aren't big guys but look big on film due to lighting and filming. stallone...big guy, taylor lautner...not a big guy. what he did well was develop good muscle mass on his frame and didnt go extreme therefore he looks normal in clothes but when shirtless can look much bigger as you will see the muscle mass in proportion on his frame
