Actors that have played same character in at least 3 movies in 2 or more franchises

Although he played a man named Van Helsing in several movies...it wasn't always the same one....he played relatives of the original in a couple of movies.
Ah, gotcha. I was gonna add Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires, but that was a different Van Helsing as well. He did play the same guy in all Frankenstein films, though.

On the subject of horror movies, Lon Chaney, Jr. was the Wolf Man 5 times:

THE WOLF MAN
FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN
HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
HOUSE OF DRACULA
ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN

And he was The Mummy 3 times:

THE MUMMY'S TOMB
THE MUMMY'S GHOST
THE MUMMY'S CURSE

Beat me to it. I was gonna say Chaney Jr. Boris Karloff has played Frankenstein 3 times.

Fun fact, Chaney Jr. is the only guy to have played all four classic Universal monsters.

Looks like Orlando's club is not as exclusive as it seemed.

Well it is by recent actors. Most of the people listed were in the Golden Age of Hollywood.

I remember reading some time ago that Orlando Bloom had reached a milestone in his career that few actors achieve by playing the same role in 3 movies, in 2 different trilogies, i.e. Legolas in LoTR and Will Turner in PoC.

Since this board seems to have an abundance of brain power, I thought I'd pick your heads about the subject.

So, besides Orlando Bloom and Harrison Ford, do any of you know of an actor that has played a reoccurring role in two or more trilogies or quadrilogies?

So?

You didn't mention that you only wanted recent actors in your first post. You asked for examples of an actor who had done it.

I was responding to the post about Orlando not being in an exclusive club. It's exclusive when comparing him to other actors of his generation. However, when it comes to the Golden Age of Hollywood, maybe not so exclusive. They did more serial movie lines back then too. Today, not so much.

Holly crap! This is something I have been thinking about for years. I have had certain rules that I go by to maintain consistency.

• Must be movies released in cinema, no straight to video or tv movies.
• Voice acting DOES count.
• Playing themselves DOES NOT count as it's not a "character".
• Stingers ( the extra scenes after some credits ) COUNT.

Heres my list.

Mel Gibson - Mad Max - Martin Riggs
Hugo Weaving - Agent Smith - Elrond ( Soon to be 3 times with Megatron )
Sly Stallone - Rocky - Rambo
Matt Damon - Bourne - Linus
Ian McKellen - Gandolf - Magneto
Mike Myers - Shrek - Austin Powers
Eddie Murphy - Donkey - Axel Foley
Patrick Stewart - Capt. Picard - Prof. X
Orlando Bloom - Legolas - Will Turner
Harrison Ford - Han - Indiana
Jackie Chan - Inspector Lee - Inspector Chan
Christopher Lee - Saruman - Dracular - Death - Sherlock - Dooku
Talia Shire - Connie Corleone - Adrian ( as far as I know the only women to do this )
Warick Davis - Leprecaun - Filius Flitwick
James Earl Jones - Vader - Adm. Greer
Judge Reinhold - Billy Rosewood - Neil Miller
Tony Todd - Candyman - William Bludworth
Tim Allen - Santa - Buzz
Cheech Marrin - Felix - Cheech ( technically not himself )

Next up will be Sam Jackson - Mace Windu - by next year: Augustus Eugene and Nick Fury.

Thats all I had, sorry if there are any repeats of what has already been listed and some of you guys have schooled me as far as older actors are concerned.

How about the slasher movies?

Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in Halloween 1, II, H20, and Resurrection

Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott in Scream 1-4
Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers in Scream 1-4
David Arquette as Dewey Reilly in Scream 1-4

The theme of this thread is for actors that have played a character at least 3 times in more than one series. Your list is of people who have played the same character multiple times in just the one series.

Ah I see. My bad.

No problem....you already have a good start on a thread about actors that have played the same character in multiple movies. I hadn't thought of some those.

i was going to throw Michael Cera onto the list, but then i realized that the guy is playing himself...in EVERY movie/show he has been in

Funny to think how successful Tom Hanks is and he is just now adding this to his very long resume.

Wow Christopher Lee is bad ass! I guess he ranks right behind Johnny Weismuller for reoccurring roles!

I was thinking Christopher Walken should be on this list, but his film career is all over the place. I'm not sure the man has ever played a reoccurring part.

You mean besides playing 'Christopher Walken' in a whole slew of movies over the years?

The angel Gabrial in the 3 PROPHECY movies and Jacob Witting in 2 made for TV movies (SKYLARK and SARAH, PLAIN AND TALL)...so he's close but not there yet.

C.Lee thanks! I knew he had to have done it! Now if they make another Jacob Witting role for him, then maybe he'd be on this list.

And I don't think playing himself counts, though. Although, just being himself, he is pretty awesome.

Judge Reinhold - Billy Rosewood - Neil Miller

I looked him up on IMDB to see which films the character Neil Miller was in and it says he also played the same character twice in Beethoven 3 & 4. Richard Newton

Vince Vaughn seems to play the same wise ass with all the quick put downs in every movie he's in.

I think it should be 3 times, twice. I haven't really looked into much but I should imagine there would be a shed load of people who have played the same character twice, more than twice.....???

If memory severs me correctly the actor who has played the same character the most times in different movies is Desmond Lleweln - Q in the Bond's. 13 times I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

This thread is about actors who have -
(1) Played the same character in at least 3 different movies of a series
PLUS
(2) Played the same character in at least 3 different movies of another series.

Wasn't "Jungle Jim" a TV series?

He did the 13 movies as Jim from '48 to '55....then they did a 22 episode TV series in '56.

Wow......

Lots of good names have already been taken.....here's one more....if shorts and child stars count.....
Jackie Cooper...Jackie in the Our Gang series and Perry White in Reeve's Superman run.

Sure, that works. Those were movies.

Will Sigourney Weaver be in Ghostbusters III?

If so that would be The Alien franchise as Ripley and GB franchise as Dana Barret.

If not, Awwwwww!
