Adam McKay to take on Dick Cheney in “Vice” (Bale, Adams, Rockwell)

I can't see see the resemblance either but hey I'll pay for any Bale/Adams reunion... :funny:

We'll see if even pans out. Bale dropped out of W because he didn't like how the prosthetics turned out so this might end up being the same thing.

I heard about this too but I presume Bale probably wanted assurances from McKay that the prosthetic's would feel and fit before he agreed to do this.

Bale's performance in The Big Short is one of his best. I'd love to see him in this.

Well I thought Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill was a bizarre casting choice but he looks pretty good with a lot of makeup and prosthetics, so we'll see.

Thanks Kv.

Christian Bale confirms he's in. https://www.apnews.com/f352f4bca8e6...utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=APEntertainment

Christian Bale said Wednesday he will play Dick Cheney in Adam McKay's upcoming biopic of the former vice president. Bale was last week reported as being in talks to join the film that will reteam him with McKay following 2015's Oscar-nominated "The Big Short." The Oscar winner confirmed he has signed up to star in the untitled film in an interview with The Associated Press.

"In the same way as it was a journey of discovery with 'The Big Short,' Adam was able to take a story that most people would go comatose listening to," said Bale of the script penned by McKay. "His ability to make it startling and entertaining and intelligent without compromising anything — he's masterful at doing that."

The film is also to star Steve Carell (who also co-starred in "The Big Short") as the former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Amy Adams is set to play Lynne Cheney, the former vice president's wife.

Like "The Big Short," McKay's film, which he'll direct, is to be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment. Shooting is planned to begin in September, with Paramount Pictures expected to distribute.

Bale was nominated for best supporting actor for his performance in "The Big Short." He previously won an Oscar for his leading performance in "The Fighter." He stars in the upcoming Armenian genocide drama "The Promise."
McKay and screenwriter Charles Randolph won the best adapted screenplay Oscar for "The Big Short."

All I want to know is if the shooting incident will be depicted. That's all I want to see. :funny:

Christian Bale's Dick Cheney biopic moves to Annapurna http://bit.ly/2q9BQYW

Adam McKay’s untitled Dick Cheney movie may have found a new home.
Sources tell Variety that Annapurna Pictures has landed the pic after Paramount Pictures decided to let it go.

Insiders believe McKay’s follow-up to “The Big Short” is better suited for Annapurna’s upcoming slate. Sources add that the parting was amicable, and that McKay looks forward to future projects under the new leadership.

The film will be the first film under Plan B’s new three-year deal with Annapurna, which was announced on Thursday.

Annapurna will finance and distribute the movie.
Christian Bale is on board to star as Cheney, with Steve Carell attached to play Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams set to play Lynn Cheney.

Brad Pitt who's a producer on this movie has made a deal to work with Annapurna, so it makes sense to move his projects over to them too.

I think I like Bale too much to watch this. I'm sure he'll be good in it and I doubt it will paint Cheney in a positive light but I just don't think I could stomach sitting through a biopic about that evil bastard.

So apparently Brad Pitt was originally supposed to play Rumsfeld but was too busy. Anyway... all that matters to me is Bale and Adams are on track for their 3rd movie! Love these two and their works together. Kinda funny how in a way, McKay took Russell's spot and his frequent collaborators. :funny:

Adam McKay interview with Deadline and here he talk's about what the movie will be about.

The Big Short was a cautionary tale. Is Cheney?

There’s some of that, but this is different than The Big Short, a film about a system that goes wrong.

The Dick Cheney story is about the effects of power, on a person, on a family. It’s just something that we don’t talk about enough, the psychological effects of power—of consolidated power, a centralized power, and what does it do to you. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a quote from George W. Bush where he said, “You’ve got to be careful. It’s amazing what power will do you to you. Trust me, I’ve been in there. I’ve seen it happen.”

He didn’t say he was talking about Dick Cheney, but I got the feeling he was. It’s a very astute comment for Bush to be that conscious of what power could do to people. I think for the average person, walking around, it’s almost impossible for us to understand what it’s like to be in that White House, and wield that kind of power, and what it does to the human psyche. That’s the cautionary tale part.

The source is not reliable so take it with a pinch of salt for now but apparently the title of the movie is "BACKSEAT". :funny:

http://www.showbiz411.com/2017/07/1...bale-dick-cheney-movie-has-new-title-backseat

You do know that Adam McKay, who went from Will Ferrell comedies to “The Big Short,” is making a movie about Dick Cheney.

Now I’m told the movie has a title: “Backseat.”

This was apparently one of Cheney’s code names with the Secret Service because he was known as a backseat driver– to George W. Bush’s presidency. Many felt Cheney told Bush what to do most of the time. Cheney, to me, was one of the more evil players in American history. He was a war monger who managed to benefit from the Gulf War through his interests in Halliburton. He was a schemer whose interests lay with corporate America.
But I digress. Christian Bale is set to play Cheney, Steve Carell is signed to be Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams would play Lynn Cheney.
All of these people are talented, but this is a horror film in the end. There is literally no one to root for.

Cheney’s other Secret Service name was “Angler” because he was a fisherman. I think that’s a better title, but no one asked me.

Well I guess this will start shooting really soon because...

^ And he said he'd stop doing big body transformations as he got older to protect his health. I knew he was lying. :o

All actors are liars.

I saw that a couple of day's ago. He's bleached his eyebrows too.

All actors are liars.

Part of the business. Everyone lies... even when the reasons are understandable. Like the real culprit behind Bale's W exit.

The writing was on the wall it would be a disaster and his participation would alienate his appeal to half the country... a large portion of which made his trilogy as one Batman/Bruce Wayne such mega-hits, not to mention none cape-and-cowl hits The Prestige, The Fighter, American Hustle and The Big Short. In the eyes of many... he still is the character.

And in the end, both the left and right hated the film - for different reasons but I digress. A wise move.

Bale looks a lot younger with some extra weight. He looks more like himself from the Batman Begins/Prestige days as opposed to the his gaunt look from Rescue Dawn forward.

I'm trying to see Bale but I can't. That picture gives me a sort of uncanny valley vibe.

This man is a chameleon. Can't wait to see what he will look like in the role.

Bale's too tired of playing Batman so he's going to try being The Penguin now.

Take this with a big pinch of salt as no trades are reporting this but we have some potential casting updates on the few other key roles.

Dick Cheney Biopic http://screenrant.com/?p=1044498

There are three key roles in the process of being cast. In the running for George W. Bush (who was president while Cheney was VP) are Academy Award nominee Edward Norton and former X-Men star James Marsden.

Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) is a “top contender” to portray Cheney’s daughter, Mary.

As for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a trio of heavy-hitters are being targeted. Where it stands now, that role will go to either Tyler Perry, Cuba Gooding, Jr., or Giancarlo Esposito.
