Which is more powerful, better, stronger, useful etc.???

Adamantium is of course used in Cap's shield and Wolverine's skelaton.
Nth Metal is used in Hawkman's wings and mace.

Well???

Nth easily. You actually probably should have done vibranium or Nth metal because vibranium's better.

What's vibranium and who uses it?

Captain America's shield uses vibranium not adamantium. And adamantium is stronger than vibranium. And shouldn't prometheum be put on the poll instead of nth metal.

adamantium is more powerful?

Why should I not use Nth metal?
I also forgot Metallo.

not that i like vs threads or any of that... especially intercompany vs threads, but, seeing as how this is wompum's thread, shouldnt he decide what is compared?

Cap's shield is a Vibramium Alloy that has never been replicated. Adimantium was created in an attempt to replicate the Shield.

Why would you put metallo there? That stuff is broken all the time.

Wasn't Metallo the only metal strong enough to withstand the force of a giant kryptonite asteroid?

Yep. Funny how someone has to clarify that in pretty much every thread that Cap's shield comes up in. I wonder how the adamantium myth became so pervasive.

Anyway, it's a bit of an odd comparison since adamantium is just a really, really, really strong metal while Nth metal actually has other abilities beyond being sturdy, but I voted for Nth metal. Versatility trumps outright strength for me. Nth metal can make you more durable, able to fly, stronger, able to heal faster, more resistent to temperature extremes, etc., and it's not exactly tissue paper itself.

On JLU, they said Nth metal also fought off magic well. This true in the DCU?

I always used to think it was an Adamantium Vibranium Alloy, but I read somewhere that it's not, it was a Vibranium Steal Alloy of some sort.

I thought it was just vibranium at one point, but then I learned that there was steel in there as well. Apparently the guy who created it fell asleep while making an alloy of vibranium and steel, some unknown x-factor entered the mix, and when he woke up he had a metal that was stronger than anything man had ever made before. He quickly shaped it into a disc (why, I have no idea) and then tried unsuccessfully to duplicate its creation. The disc was taken and turned into a shield for Cap, and the failed attempts to recreate it resulted in a weaker knock-off that became known as adamantium.

Not as far as I know. I think they were running out of ways for Hawkgirl to be even remotely useful in JLU, since she's an inherently terrible character, and they figured letting her hit magical stuff with her mace would be a good way to squeeze two or three more episodes out of her.

Am I the only one who things the term "Nth Metal" sounds ******ed?

It was used because it's really strong (not nearly as strong as Nth, but probably stronger than real world titantium) and able to shield the pilot from the radiation. Those properties made it the perfect material to make that big robot out of.

Besides, in that very same story, a specific plotpoint was that the metallo of Corben's body was deteriorating, plus he had his arm casually burned off by Superman's heat vision. Those aren't exactly characteristics that would put metallo up there with adamantium or Nth metal.

However, when used propery, Nth Metal can be used as a means of manipulating the four basic forces of the universe. It could be argued that magic encompases the four forces, and as such can be manipulated by Nth Metal.
