I am a huge fan of Adventure time. In many ways it is just a dumb kids show but when they decide not to go that route it is friggin DARK. Finn is the last known human. He lives with his best friend a talking magic dog named Jake. They fight the Ice King who kidnaps princesses every now and then and they mostly hang out with Princess Bubblegum of the candy kingdom. General ideas in a kids show right? It's a bit more complicated than that.

So the show takes place around a thousand years after a massive nuclear war and you can see evidence of this a few seconds in the opening of the title. Since Finn is the last human he occasionally has breakdowns when he thinks about that too much. The Ice King kidnaps princesses because he doesn't want to be alone anymore and also his crown is magic and has driven him insane in the last thousand years.

They've dealt with issues like abandonment, adoption, death and insanity.

Oh yeah and this is the Lich. His only stated goal is the death of everything.

Adventure Time rocks. It's just so bizarrely awesome. I loved the episode BMO Noir.

The 2 episode premier... some of the darkest stuff I have ever seen in a kids show. And that is why I absolutely love Adventure Time.

Such a great premiere. A few things:

Spoiler

- Poor Prismo.
- Finn's Dad is a *****e. That grocery store line just made me angry.
- He's most likely going to be the villain for this season, and he seems to be charismatic or at least manipulative to be able to get the other prisoners to do what he wants.
- The Lich is a baby, which should hopefully get an episode alone with Tree Trunks. Should be great.
- Finn finally lost his arm! I marked out when the Akira moment happened. I loudly screamed 'TetsuOOOOOO!' at the TV. Hopefully he gets the robotic one now. I'm not sure if the curse means it will grow back as a plant arm, the flower hints as much though.
- Since there was no bone, he didn't regrow his arm like his Dad and the Lich did.
- The Lich's line to Finn before Finn recovered was insane.
- Lastly, I wonder if Finn's Dad is from the time of the Mushroom Bomb, time traveler, space criminal because of the Star Cruiser comment.

Yeah, that was awesome.

I liked the nod to the fact that she has many ex-husbands before she's like well nevermind.

It was an all timer. It was cosmic and personal at the same time, and had everything from the Lich to Card Wars. I love the episodes when Finn is faced with the rawness of his unaddressed emotions. It is one of the beautiful things about Finn aging in "real time".

- Prismo.

- Sometimes I forget how heart breaking Finn's story is.

- Jake parties without Lady Rainicorn.

- Am I the only one wondering if that was truly Finn's dad?

- Beating shadow dreams with flashlights.

- Only two settings on Jake's flashlight.

- It is always nice to see the Lich, but holy crap was he something else last night.

- With the Lich "retired" I wonder if we will finally get a new "big bad", and I wonder if it is going to be Martin.

- They hinted at it for a long while, and it finally happen. Finn got Luke Skywalkered.

- Even after all that, my biggest question is I wonder what Finn's next sword is going to be. I love a good hero's weapon.

- Tree Trunks gets bored so easy.

Before he knew of his dad's existence, the only other character who might be a human is Susan. I wonder when/if she's going to return.

When the Lich first appeared in the episode as a vegetable, I thought the whole Billy constellation was one of his tricks.

- Only two settings on Jake's flashlight.

His crystal flashlight was awesome. Finn's sound effects when "shooting" his flashlight was also great.

- Even after all that, my biggest question is I wonder what Finn's next sword is going to be. I love a good hero's weapon.

I think the Grass Sword is the shortest he's ever kept one on the show. Sad to see it go, but that Tetsuo moment was the best.

Susan has been gone so long, I wonder if we will ever see her again.

Finn's sound effects were perfect.

And yeah, the cursed grass sword was easily the shortest amount of time he has had a sword. I didn't love the look, but its abilities were pretty great. He'll probably be looking for an arm before getting another sword though.

That was an insane premiere. I really wasn't expecting it to go so dark. Of all the shocks, my God, Prismo didn't even know what was happening, the real body I mean. And then he was just gone.
