There are a lot of ways you can open a Star Wars movie, but you want something that kicks it off right. Based on rumors I'm going with this...

The Camera Pans Space to reveal a large Planet or Moon, a debris field orbits the planet, a ship emerges from the from the planets surface, something ominous, a vehicle we haven't seen before, it quickly passes through the debris field & heads directly toward you & passes overhead...in it's wake some of the debris can be seen very clearly...a black tie fighter pilot helmet floats into frame...

On board the ship a mysterious, cloaked figure sits near a bay window and examines something closely, once revealed the unmistakable outline of the helmet of Darth Vader, battered by time & the elements on the surface of the moon of Endor....

I'm going with the first scene is storm troopers on the ship, possibly attacking Tatooine with Boyega as the short trooper, hence why the shot kind of has the small one in the centre.

It's going to be an Imperial or government ship of some kind. 6 for 6 on that so far.

I hope it's a star destroyer. I may have a mini heart attack in the theater if it happens.

Soccer ball droid floating in SPACE! :hehe:

I'm going with the scene with the Stormtroopers on the drop ship on that dark, stormy planet. Probably start with a scene from the planets orbit with the ship leaving a Star Destroyer heading down to the planet. And then an intense ground battle against...I have no idea... :)

Pan down to reveal a Star Destroyer moving towards screen

IT will be a Star Destroyer, potentially damaged and in combat.

I'd love to see a bottom view of a Star Destroyer moving upward onscreen. Just to disorient viewers and show that it's the same Star Wars universe we know and love, but having a unique take on the opening scene at the same time.

I think it would be kind of cool to pan up to the bottom of a Star Destroyer, but as more of it comes into view, you realize it's not operational, and eventually you see a good chunk of it has been blown away, and it's just floating lifeless in space.

Boyega's TIE being chased by Gwen's Star Destroyer, halφ-destroyed, crashing onto the desert planet?

As with the exclusion/moving of the trademark Bond gun barrel, it would not surprise me if they came up with a reason to eliminate the opening crawl altogether....

With CR and Craig's run, they were going for much needed reinvention. With TFA they're going for some kind of familiar/OT-ish feeling. I don't think they'll let go of the crawl.

I'll be predictable and say that after the crawl we'll see space and a ship :oldrazz:

The scene with the stormtrooper in the dropship? I bet the camera pans down straight from the crawl to outside the gunship, and then we cut inside to see that scene, and it' revealed that Boyega is the short stormtrooper.

I'm more curious about the crawl itself, and exactly how difficult it'll be for me to keep from laughing,as they try to explain why Stormtroopers still exist in a post-ROTJ galaxy.

I think we see some space scene like in ANH and TPM......a classic star war opening

I believe they can explain stormtroopers are not clones anymore but just human recruited who hates the Rebels

If there was no opening crawl I'd get up and walk out of the cinema immediately.

Why wouldn't there be?
Well we lost "Episode VII" in the title and got shakey cam and upside down shots. That trailer made me worried that we'll be losing consistent elements of the saga like that in favour of "artistic vision".

Fixed.:woot:

Why would you be when JJ loves Star Wars. It's a genuine love. The crawl will be in there. It's random to worry about something like this.

It's like worrying about John Williams using only a synthesizer for the film's score.
