Ahsoka Ahsoka: Episodes 1 and 2 Spoiler Thread

Ray Stevenson and Chopper (even though not sounding like himself) will most likely steal the show. However, with Filoni having directed the first episode and setting the general mood, and how characters should act, I'm afraid there will only be a limited range to Stevenson's acting. Let's see I guess. Coming from Andor, I wish moving forward we could get more of that show's aesthetic. The shiny, clean, almost medical or surgical look doesn't work for me. The overuse is of the volume is probably to blame for this. This isn't the prequel era, this is after ROTJ, the world is supposed to look really old and used.

I like that Sabine didn’t leave enough hair for a Padawan braid. It’s good to see her keep some defiance.

That whole scene, felt a bit off and redundant.
I get, that you have to introduce the audience the character differently, for the once that never saw rebels, but they are other ways to do it. The hair cutting scene recontextualize (retcons) the whole rebels ending scene, which was perfect. Instead, we got a pure exposition dump in EP1

I really enjoyed it even more the second time around. Going back with the knowledge that Sabine might have some latent force sensitivity, I think there are actually a few more hints in Rebels than I acknowledged at the time.

Not just Kanan talking to Hera about her, the darksaber training, Sabine picking up Ezra's lightsaber, but yes, the shot with the three owls during their training, the "portal has to be opened by a Jedi and Padawan" stuff, and Sabine somehow knowing that Ezra was on his way back from the World Between Worlds.

The second episode also underplays her force abilities for now, which I think is the right move. They've done the best they can picking up where they left off. While also acknowledging a pretty big time jump.

Really excited for the next six weeks.

The Star Wars galaxy is a standard spiral like Andromeda, and the other galaxy is a smaller barred spiral like the Milky Way. I wonder how much to read into this, especially with that mention of an ancient culture (humans from Earth?) from the barred spiral. I forget where I read that "A long time ago…" isn’t necessarily written from the audience’s point of view, but that opens up possibilities.

I thought Lucas said that earth in the Star Wars universe is the one from THX1138, but still unconnected to any of the SW events/influence.

Been trying to figure out why Natasha Liu Bordizzo seems so familiar to me, as I've seen her in a couple of things looking at her filmography, but I can't even remember her in those things. And I think I finally figured out that she just reminds me of a young Dichen Lachman. :funny:

Not a bad shout. I knew her as one of the primary characters in the awful sequel to my beloved Crouching Tiger. Not that you can recongize anyone in it with all the muddy look and bloom lighting.

Maybe it’s just cause I was doing a Studio Ghibli rewatch recently, but I get a lot of Joe Hisaishi vibes, particularly from use of the Taiko drums and the grand, epic swells of wind and string instruments. Has an almost measured, contemplative, and mythical feel that you get a lot from those scores.

I never watched that one. I respected the original too much to do so. :funny:

The movies I should have seen her in are Hotel Mumbai and The Greatest Showman. But I cannot for the life of me place her in either.

You made a very wise decision. :funny:

I've seen The Greatest Showman. Or so my brother and Snow tell me. I feel like I forced myself to forget. :o

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon just might make my top 10 of greatest movies ever made.

And I LOVED these first two episodes. And I only watched a couple of Rebels episodes with my boys.

Wheras I am happy to add another notch to my Pac Rim Uprising-Star Wars connection board.

Saw some speculation about Sam Witwer after seeing his name in the credits. This was his thoughts a while back on his character Starkiller and if he could’ve worked as an Inquisitor.

Just gonna pop in quick to say how much I enjoyed both episodes. So many emotions and what not. But I don’t think I can come around to discuss these shows or films all the time anymore. This fandom is really tiring me out and not in the good way. So much gate keeping and discourse every time a new project comes along. I can’t be bothered honestly. I am so incredibly over it. It’s sad honestly. Looking forward to Part III and the rest of the show though. How many episodes again?

That's fair tbh. Also long as it's fun for you! This show will run for eight episodes, finishing on October 3. Next week is another episode directed by Steph Green.

Thank you for the info. I won’t be able to watch episodes until Saturday’s. But I appreciate the response bro

You and me both. I love discussing this stuff but it’s gotten beyond exhausting anymore with all the gatekeeping BS. Especially when so much of it just comes from people who have an obvious agenda. The toxicity is ruining fandom, and it’s not just Star Wars.

Me too. I've had to accept that forum members who are abusive have earned places on my ignore list. This leaves gaps when I read the discussion threads, but to paraphrase Doctor McCoy, "What the bullies have said is unimportant, and we do not hear their words."

I mean just even the fandom as a whole in general. Anywhere you go it’s just crazy now. Twitter is probably the best example.

She looks like Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Karen Fukuhara if they did the fusion dance.
