A Teeny Tidbit More On THE DARK KNIGHT's New Batsuit??

Merrick again...

I don't recall running across this too widely...the only place I found reference to it was HERE, although our tipster makes it sound like the changes to the new suit are more dramatic than posited in the article linked above.

Aonemantidalwave sent in this snippet regarding a recent encounter he had with someone working on THE DARK KNIGHT. I've tweaked this message to avoid revealing the identity of the person working on the film.

MINOR COSTUME-RELATED SPOILER AHEAD!?!?

Both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have seen a new Batsuit & there's been a fitting.

I told this person how I didn't particularly dig the suit in Batman Begins and said it was too bulky. To this he/she replied, "Well then you'll love the new one." He/she also stated that Bats changes his suit halfway through the film - and its a major plotpoint as to the how and why this happens.

He/she sadly, had no news about the Joker's get up.

This source is new to us, so keep that in mind when contemplating the vast array of costuming possibilities here.

If I'm repeating something that's already widely known, my apologies.

I definitely like seeing it on camera than something happening between movies

PLEASE BE TRUE :csad:.

Sounds awesome. I didn't hate the suit in Begins or anything, but I'm really excited for a new suit, just for a nice, fresh change of pace.

Here's hoping for the return of the nipples!

I really liked the Begins suit. I really had no problems, even the creasing ... because real material does do that sometimes. I'm interested to see what is changed.

There's just thing that gets me:

and its a major plotpoint as to the how and why this happens.

How is a costume change a significant plot point ?

something happens to the old suit? maybe the old suit wasn't acid redardant

The Joker strips Batman, has hot male sex with him and takes off with the previous Batsuit.
GENIUS.

I just don't see how that is "major."

I think that may actually happen with the exception of the sex part. Joker beats the **** out of batman, takes the suit as sort of a prize thing and then u get a 'Joker doesn't want to know who's under the mask as it ruins game' type scene.

what you think about in the pleasure of your leather wall-papered dungeon is none of our business

i bet the "plot point" is that alfred finally gets tired of reparing the Nomex suit. kinda like this:

BRUCE:
Alfred, when are you going to repair the suit?

ALFRED:
Nevah! Get a new one.

just no yellow oval please Nolan! i beg of you!

I just don't see how that is "major."

maybe Batman has a major panic attack when he sees Joan Rivers and her posse bash the batsuit on one of those E! red carpet fashion shows.

what if I fanticise about you?

The only thing I can think of is that Lucius helps make an alteration to the suit that somehow aids Batman in fighting the "bad guys" (whether it be Joker or the typical gang o' thugs etc...) or something that improves his performance overall... but I too don't see how it can be a significant plot point. I hope it's not anything like the disgrace that was Batman & Robin, where they changed their suits to take on Mr. Freeze... I don't think I've EVER seen a more horrible looking batsuit. EVER.

The only problem I had with the "Begins" batsuit was that phuckin' jawline that went out 2 miles in each direction, making Batman look like "Bobble-head Bats" from certain angles. Other than that, I didn't think the suit was half-bad. I would, however, like to see maybe a lighter shade of gray (not too light, of course) for the torso and legs, while the gloves, boots, cowl, cape, and bat symbol across the chest remain black.

Wow, good thinking .

Why, thank you. :woot:

It's the only scenario that would be a major plot point in my estimation. Otherwise, that phrase is likely just an exaggeration. ;)

Makes sense that it happens onscreen. It could be unfair for it to happen offscreen.

All Right!!! this is some good news...this is something to get excited about!!!

I got it:
During the course of the movie Rachel tells Bruce that Batman looks fat. He gets self conscious and starts to slim the Bat suit to make it look not so bukky. I am a genius, you may worship me, from afar.

i seriously hope it's true. i'd LOVE to see Bats change his suit mid-movie because of the story. even though i don't like Schumaker's Bats that much...one of the things i liked about his movies is that Batman switched suits at sometime in the movie.

I don't see why they would have to 'have to change on camera'. If it's a sleek version of the rubber suit, then through the process of movie magic, just do it and don't tell the audience.

However, if it's like....hardcore different, where Bats changes from the rubber to something like super thin (ala Spider-Man) then I guess I can see why they need to explain it.
