Shia seems really excited. His comments are bordering on incoherent but maybe that's due to the excitement of being in the middle of a shoot.

With the comments on the Razor popping up, and it being a US jet...maybe the cybertronian jet will only be used in flashbacks. So, when Megatron is finally dethawed he scans the military for latest jet designs and finds the Razor. Thoughts?


edit: i just read the first page. I guess bluejake suggested it already and you guys shot it down. I still think it would work and it would give us an earth mode for Megs.

Well i had my title modofied by the mods so it can be a general topic for everything that has to do with sets. From eyeywithness (sp?),spy reports, scoops to interviews and official visits.

My hopes were really high for this interview because I thought that Shia would be able to give us Transformers fans an inside look on the production, himself being a Transformers fan. Maybe I was hoping too much that it would be unbiased. Here's a couple of things I had issues with.

THIS really irked me:

“It was the human story” that made Bay want to go for this movie. Even though the title is “Transformers”. Yay.

Yah, right... his arrangement with Hasbro is what made Bay want to go for this movie. It's a known fact.

In any case, I don't really have a huge problem with the human aspect... that's what good sci-fi is all about! I just don't want it to be corny and contrived like Pearl Harbor (or Armageddon for that matter).

We need more of this. More Spielberg intervention.

That is good. The effects and the action are the two things I am NOT worried about. Pretty much everything else, I am.

Well, I get the sense that there's this "fake enthusiasm" being pushed on the crew and people to emote to the general public. I can just see Bay going "OK people, you need to sound really excited... imagine there's a big robot there.... no no don't worry- it'll look cool.... just BE EXCITED."
It just all sounds contrived. But, then again, who knows.

I can relate to what Quint says at the end. The fact that Megatron’s design looks horrible, and that this may not be the Transformer movie that Transformer fans have been looking forward to. It definitely will be one of Bay’s better movies…but that’s it, it will be a Bay movie. We wil have to wait for opening day to see if it will feel like a Transformers movie or a “big ****ing robot” movie with the name Transformers.

I completely agree with this. Minus the icons we all associate with Transformers, this movie will just be a Robots-At-War movie.

Shia could've easilly mistaken "razor" for "raptor", but then again he says Megatron and not Starscream. Hopefully more tidbits like this will surface.

Eh, at this point... everyone has lowered their expectations. It reminds me of that SNL skit (Lowered Expectations). As long as the movie isn't some huge crapfest, people will go see it. Then again, there's lots of competition for people's dollars next summer.
