AIM Problem

So all day today my AIM was working fine. Earlier today, I got logged off and, not an hour ago, got back on and signed on to AIM. Seeing my friend was on, I tried to IM him, only for me not to be able to see the message. How do I fix this?

Sometimes, if you log onto another account, then log back into yours, it works.

Failing that, uninstall aim completely, and delete all AIM files. THEN reinstall.
