Alex Cross

But... since it's Perry, it gives us so many opportunities for sequels:

Diary of a Mad Serial Killer
Alex Cross Goes to Jail
I Can Catch Bad Guys All By Myself
Alex Cross' Witness Protection
Why Did I Get Murdered?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

On the real, though. I will at least sneak in to see this one. Like someone else said, it looks like a 90s thriller. I miss those.

Nah, I think Carrey's got solid dramatic talent or at least he did. I'm throwing Perry under bus solely for the awful lines he hams up in the TV spots. "I will meet him at the gates of hell before I let him hurt someone I love."

Come on. That's not fair to Perry or any actor/actress for that matter.

Aww, come on. We all know Nicholas Cage would own the sh** out of that line.

Well, a white dude would never say that line. He just wouldn't. It's a very brother-ish thing to say.

I will check this out because Matthew Fox seems to have created a fairly interesting looking villain.

Part of me thinks this movie has a chance to surprise, and is being marketed the way it is because let's face it, Alex Cross still isn't a huge name in cinema.

Yeah, that's the only thing about this that has me somewhat interested. He looks like he really committed to the role.

Every time I see an Alex Cross trailer I can't help but to think that this could've been an Idris Elba film. Then I'm filled with sadness.

I'll still probably wind up watching this because of Matthew Fox, as others have said, he looks pretty fantastic.

I wouldn't count Taylor Perry out yet, I mean he could suprise everyone with this role. I mean look at Adam Sandler he has done some silly movies in the past, but he can also pull off the serious roles well. Tyler is decent in some of the serious roles he has playing in his movies Why Did I get Married? And Why Did I Get Married Too?. But I don't know.... I will check this out at a matinee, I already have plans to see PA 4 opening night with friends.

So, yeah. This was gonna be my weekend movie of choice over PA4, but my theater's not picking it up.:down

Like many have already said, the only reason I would care to check this film out is solely because of Matthew Fox.

Call me nuts, but prior to him being casted into this, I'd chosen him as Lex Luthor.

I think this film will do just fine, at least financially. The movie is suitably righteous enough to attract a good slice of Perry's core Bible-thumping audience, plus more of the suburban zealot crowd (sheltered conservatives who get off watching CSI and Law and Order SVU) , plus it will attract the thrillseeker viewers who would normally see things like Se7en and Silence of the Lambs.

I'm just curious to see what Perry brings to it. It's an experiment for him, which sparks my interest more than anything. If it does decent, hopefully he can branch out of that niche of his. Because I'll just say it, we need more black guys in leading roles. Younger ones, not like Denzels and SLJ's and Morgan Freemans. I dig Elba and always will, but gotta expand that pool, mother****er.

I definitely would like to see more black men, or men of colour for that matter, as all-around protaganists. I wouldn't necessarily put Denzel in the old man category, but otherwise, the actors you describe above (SLJ and Freeman) more or less describe the de-sexualized extremes of the stereotypical "black hero" that mainstream audiences are comfortable with: the potty-mouthed, streetwise "black justice" antihero or the sage voice of wisdom from a bygone era.

Rarely do we get to see men of colour as heroes of fairly normal temperment with internal complexity, guys who see and combat evil but also can be husbands and lovers at the same time.

Which is kind of what we're getting with Alex Cross. He's not just an FBI agent, he's seen as a husband, a father, and a grandson. The latter two are elements that were sorely missed from Freeman's Cross films 'cause they cast Morgan Freeman's old ass!!

I frankly can't even think of black/asian/latin equivalents of Bale, Hardy, JGL, etc. right now. That is how lopsided it is.

It's Hollywood. Black, Latino, Asian, and Middle Eastern actors are subjected to unsubstantial or 'supporting' roles.

The biggest up-and-comer or rising star for us Latinos is Edgar Ramirez, and most of people don't even know who he is at all.

there is far more main stream black actors than latino that for sure

we got smith,foxx,denzel,elba,mackie,etc.

there is some solid latino actors like you named ramirez and also Gael Garcia Bernal who is getting solid work like Blindness,Babel,Motorcycle Diaries and is gonna be the new zorro

Gael is more established than Edgar, but I agree. He's one of the few that has broken through, and is becoming a star in Hollywood.

The new Zorro, huh? I didn't know that.
