Alexandre Aja is set to direct drama The Contractor, reports Variety.

Ian Jeffers (The Grey, Castlevania) is rewriting the script. Alexandra Milchan will produce.

The story is set in a world where the U.S. government can no longer afford to fight wars and authorizes private contractors to send a band of elite soldiers on missions around the world.

Aja will tackle the project after he completes Piranha 3-D for Dimension Films.

Sounds like an interesting change of pace for him.

yeah, I call that the "John Woo Effect" when a indie/foreign director loses their way once they get mainstream.

True. THHE remake was still good. Better than the original, I'd say. But Mirrors was just meh ok.

Haven't seen Furia yet. Though I have the DVD.
 
He needs to make his personal pet projects again.
