I was looking into buying a copy of Alien 3 on DVD and came across this,is it worth paying a bit extra for this cut ? does it add anything to the movie worth having ?

Well, people seem to like it. My advice: buy the boxset though if you're gonna buy it. Amazon has it for 45 bucks.

Get the boxset it's worth the money. You'll get two versions of each movies, but a ton of extra. I'm so glad I bought it. I still haven't finished going through it all.

put it this way. Alien 3 was my least favourite (after A:R.)
after watching the assembly cut, Alien 3 is now my firm favourite....by a long way. Fox butchered finchers movie to bits...it's at least 40 minutes longer and wow...you just gotta see it.

but yeah ^ i'd recommend the alien quadrilogy boxset....some really insightful extras and commentaries - especially Aliens and Alien 3's development hell.

I have it... When I go back after Friday, I can watch it for you and give you my opinion...

You could look at Alien 3, the visuals, the atmosphere, and tell there was/is a good movie somewhere in there. Fincher is a master of that.

Fox is notorious for being idiots. They really need to change some people around, aka FIRE THEIR INCOMPETENT asses! Look at X-Men, X-Men 3, Fantastic Four (and probably the second one), AvP, etc. Talk about not knowing how to use the franchises or trust their top tier directors.
