I don’t remember where I read it, but somebody had the idea of a “Island of Dr. Moreau” type premise, with our main characters going to/crashing on the world where David has experimented and made all of these weird creations/abominations in sort of a perverted Creator/God type role. That said, I've made it clear in this thread more than once that I think the next sequel should merge the Romulus plotline with David's thread from Covenant. He was too good of a character to fizzle out like that. He deserves a proper ending.
Building off of that, I had some ideas for what that might look like.
It would be kind of interesting if the film plays with the idea that these characters don’t know who this is by initially making us think that maybe it’s just another character with the same model, and as the film slowly progresses we learn more about this place along with the characters. And, then, it’s finally revealed that, yes, it is who we think it is who we thought it was from the beginning the same time they do as we do in a “We need to get the f**k off this planet!!!” type moment, David releases all of the creatures on them in a chase/hide and seek escape where they need to simultaneously avoid/fend off and get back to their ship.
Maybe, to add a little bit more tension, they set some sort of device to explode and destroy everyone and everything on the planet within a certain amount of time (kinda like Aliens). Also, you could homage the original Alien and Aliens by having David, who you think was completely obliterated like everything else, severely damaged from narrowly making it onto the ship from the blast, breaks/temporarily disables Andy and goes after Rain who now has to fend him off on her own. Then, you could have the surprise of a broken yet still functional Andy helping Rain get David launched out of the ship and into a nearby passing sun where he burns to a crisp and finally it destroyed.
As for the title, going along with the past naming conventions of the last few Alien films (Prometheus, Covenant and Romulus), I came up with Alien: Kronos/Cronos/Cronus. It’s both a reference to the god in Greek mythology who overthrew his father and had children of his own, the famous deities we are all familiar with, who in turn did the same to him, and a sun-like star in our universe, because, in an ironic twist of fate, David is “eaten” by a sun. It would act as a lesson that, despite all of his efforts, he could not surpass the gods and his father’s efforts and was ultimately still prone to and could not escape the same human flaws and mistakes as his creator.
Maybe as a bonus, Rain and Andy discover that Shaw is actually alive, and she could actually tell our main characters who David actually is and what’s going on. It could also act as sort of a primer for people who didn’t see Prometheus and Covenant and need to be filled in.
Long winded, I know, but I had to get it down and thought I would put it out there. Just some fun ideas.
