Sci-Fi Alien: Romulus (2024)

I had a crazy thought earlier. What if the guy directing the next Alien movie is..... Dan Trachtenberg?

I enjoy the first AvP enough and the concept is fun in a "schlocky b-movie" kind of way but I also feel it devalues both franchises if they did that again. I'd rather see them keep doing what they have been doing recently.

I rewatched Prometheus and Covenant this week for the first time since Covenant was released, and these are flawed films. But they're interesting to me. Ridley is taking swings, and there are hints of better movies in here. I am assuming Trachtenberg is working on an AvP movie on his end, but I gotta say even if it's not the best path forward, part of me wants to see this David story wrap up. If nothing else, I like closure and Covenant had the setup for an interesting sequel next go. Maybe they can work it into whatever Romulus ends up doing next. I don't know. But I would be morbidly curious to see that chain wrapped up

I really, REALLY enjoyed Prometheus, watched it again last year before Romulus and still enjoyed it.

I thought Covenant was bad though and still do. Romulus made it a better movie by confirming David didn't create the Xenomorphs, but overall Covenant is still poor for me.

I also did a rewatch for ALIEN | EARTH, mostly surprised that ALIEN | COVENANT inched over PROMETHEUS this time.
