Sci-Fi Alien: Romulus (2024)

My gut tells me this will be one of those movies that people will go gaga over on account of the stylistic throwbacks and back to basics approach it goes for, before the enthusiasm quickly peters out within a year or two and it's thought of as just 'okay' by most of the actual fanbase. Kind of like The Force Awakens or how I imagine Prey will eventually come to be regarded.

On the other hand, I hope it's great.

Got tickets to see it on the 16th with my dad and sister. As the cherry on top it's in IMAX and I also got my favorite seats. Basically the back row in the middle.

Was thinking of rewatching some of the previous movies but time might prevent me doing a full franchise re-watch. I've seen Alien and Aliens fairly recently with the gf, could maybe do Alien 3 with her (but she generally doesn't like dour depressing movies so not sure there). :D

I want to be surprised, but I am expecting it to be fairly basic.

What if it's the McDonalds from another country where they have interesting stuff on the menu we don't have?

If we are talking stuff like the lobster roll or the pizza, then that makes it Prometheus :o

Do the McPizzas fail to do the zig-zag run while a giant ass spaceship falls down on them? :o

I got my tickets to see this in 4DX in NYC next Saturday. I'm stoked to see how this plays out, as it already looks way better than the last 2 movies and having rewatched Evil Dead 2013, I'm confident in Alverez can pull off the sense of dread he usually brings to the table. Bear in mind, he impressed Cameron with this! Scott is easy, but Jim Cameron? That's a sign you've done great!
