Sci-Fi Alien: Romulus (2024)

I got my tickets to see this in 4DX in NYC next Saturday. I'm stoked to see how this plays out, as it already looks way better than the last 2 movies and having rewatched Evil Dead 2013, I'm confident in Alverez can pull off the sense of dread he usually brings to the table. Bear in mind, he impressed Cameron with this! Scott is easy, but Jim Cameron? That's a sign you've done great!
Didn't Jimbo endorse/praise Genisys back then? :sus

Eh, Cameron likes what he likes. I think he also liked Alien Vs Predator.

I saw that video. The look on his face and tone in his voice seemed more like he was being forced to say all of that off a notecard than actually seeming sincere.

It's crazy how after all of these years I still have no firm opinion on Alien 3. Even the Assembly cut. On the other hand, I love Resurrection.

When are reviews dropping? The franchise hasn't had a good movie since Alien Resurrection so I'm quite hesitant.

So you're saying he has no integrity :DV:
I would never say that about him. I'm saying Paramount was so desperate for good publicity, they went to him for help, he probably declined at first after seeing the movie, they begged him and he only agreed to it if they paid him a hefty sum.

Cause T3, Genesis, and Dark Fate were all great movies Cameron endorsed :o

Despite being an Alien fan, I haven't followed the development closely and only saw two trailers (mostly because Covenant was such a lousy film, that I don't have high hopes). After seeing the latest trailer, I'm convinced this film is attempting to fuse Alien and Aliens into one package. Alien's setting, but Aliens' action. I dunno...we'll see, I guess.

From the trailers, I get the impression the cast are kids because they don't want to be stuck on that Company mining colony. Basic set up for them to encounter the ship with the xenomorph.

Dark Fate doesn't count because he produced it and co-wrote the story so he was obligated to endorse it. I'll give him a pass for T3 because even though it's more or less a T2 rehash, the ending is actually decent. But I have no idea why he would have endorsed Genisys other than feeling kindness and/or pity. :o

Genisys was more fun than Dark Fate. I said what I said.

Salvation was easily the best of the post-T2 sequels. They had the right idea of moving the focus from Arnold onto John Conner and making it about the future war was what we wanted if they were going to do this. It's just a shame it didn't do well. At least we got a comic mini-series that actually gave a very interesting ending.

I agree on Salvation. I was hoping for a proper trilogy set during the actual war.

Romulus, I have not seen any of the trailers aside from the first one but I liked what he did with Evil Dead and am on board with it. The marketing is wild!!! Are those face hugger masks? Are they theater exclusive? I'm going opening day for the Aliens head Popcorn bucket!

I thought Salvation was poor personally. They had the right idea but botched it completely. They couldn't even get the T-600 right. A 9 foot infiltration unit?

T3 is the best T2 sequel for me. And has possibly the best ending of the franchise.

Have to agree. Almost nothing works in Salvation. The performances, character arcs, and pacing are all weak.

I kind of hold T3 and Salvation on equal footing. Salvation at least tried something different but the execution wasn't good.

Sure, in the same way that waiting on line at the DMV is more fun than being at a funeral. :o

Genysys is still the worst of the Terminator franchise, like a parody, but Salvation is right behind for taking what we all dreamed about for the future war and gave us… boring rural desert.

T3 is still the best T3 out of all the four T3s lol
