I know that QT was going to do a Vega brothers prequel movie a while back, but it got scrapped because Michael Madsen and John Travolta got too old. But would he have the audacity to still go ahead with it at some point and recast?

Or he can have authors adapt his scrapped ideas into comics or create spin-offs like he did with Django in a form of a comic.

Maybe, if he went for it being them when they were really young or something. I'd definitely watch it

That whole Vega Bros film thing reeks of something Tarantino dropped in an interview only to not have anyone ever just let it go after 20 years rather than anything that was ever, ever on the table.

Most I'd want out of the Vega Bros is a comic. Let QT move onto other stuff. Same goes for Kill Bill 3. If he's got a stellar story for it, fine, but otherwise I'm cool with it just staying 1&2. We got the whole story. I'm good.

Yeah, one second thought, Vega Bros. does sound like something that would be better suited as a comic book adaptation. What about that Killer Crow movie he was talking about after he did Django and before he started working on Hateful 8?

Same thing. Just one of the many ideas out of his mouth that will never really go anywhere.

Not very interested in Killer Crow or Vegas Brothers, but i'm still interested in seeing Kill Bill Vol. 3, the premise is perfect and there's a lot of potencial in that, though by now i'n starting to doubt Tarantino will ever do that film.

Except Bill wouldn't have anything to do with the premise....

I don't care for a Kill Bill 3. I'd rather have something new, not based on his previous work.

So what? It's Kiddo facing revenge herself, the plot would go full circle.

No, it'd be a new plot. Similar, but new. A sequel but not a new volume. I could get behind titansupes Kill Kiddo. Just keep Bill out of the title.

Vivica A. Fox's daughter.

I think her name was Nikita...? I do remember reading an interview with QT saying that was the idea he had, and he wanted to wait until that actor had grown up more.

And yet at the same time, Basterds was once squarely in that category. Then in 08 he showed up at Cannes and said he'd be back the next year with it and many scoffed. Then he did it. The Basterds films we got was very different from what he had talked up over the years but still it was kind of baffling.

I doubt that Kill Bill vol. 3 would ever happen, but if it does, they wouldn't have to change the title to something silly like Kill The Bride or Kill Kiddo. Kill Bill is fine; it is "volume 3," i.e. the third installment of a very long story arc, the central premise of which is the revenge visited upon the character of Bill. Volume 3 just deals with the aftermath, but is still linked to the character of Bill, even though he's not present.

I bought a QT collection recently which has Kill Bill 1 & 2, Pulp Fiction (probably his best film), Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs. I already have IB and Django Unchained so all I am missing now is Death Proof. I cannot wait until Hateful 8 comes out. I always have high expectations for QT's films because they are usually great and I expect the same from Hateful 8.

I heard the reactions to the first screening of Hateful Eight were very strong. I also read someone said it was second to Jackie Brown in being the least Tarantino-esque in relation to editing and soundtrack. He also said the ending and some other stuff were also different from the leaked first draft. BTW, recently had a Tarantino marathon and here's my new ranking:

1. Pulp Fiction (Prev position: # 3) 9.5/10
2. Inglourious Basterds (prev position: unchanged) 9.5/10
3. Jackie Brown (Prev Position: # 1) 9/10
4. Reservoir Dogs (Prev Position: # 5) 9/10
5. Django Unchained (Prev position: # 4) 9/10
6. Death Proof (Prev position: # 7) 8/10
7. Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 (Prev position: # 6) 8/10

I wasn't a fan of Jackie Brown, so I'm not sure how I feel about that (I think I'll have to rewatch it to form a better opinion though).

My ranking:

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Django Unchained (I ****ing love Westerns)
3. Reservoir Dogs
4. Inglorious Basterds
5. Kill Bill (both parts)
6. Jackie Brown

Haven't seen Death Proof.

You better re-watch Jackie Brown, Napoleon. It's smooth, elegant, emotional, matured, and pretty restrained for a Tarantino film. It's screenplay and editing are tight.

That's the thing though: to me, Tarantino's best movies are the ones where he goes all out with his signature stylistic touches. To see it bottled up like that just sucks all the fun out.

Tarantinos comments from interviews at the time are hilarious.

He said something to the effect of seeing a lot of commentary in the press surrounding Pulp Fiction imagining what he would be like once he got old and settled down to make a more mature film. I believe the exact quote from the DVD interview was "F*** that. I'll show them. I can make that movie right now!"

His most 'mature' film is also his most self consciously made and done pretty much directly as a middle finger.

On that note I recently found a hardback copy of Rum Punch, the source material for Jackie Brown, for 75 cents a flea market.
