I finally saw this the other day, after almost two months sitting in my movies folder :o

I rated it 7/10 but I'm watching it again soon (so the rating might go up, who knows). I think the weakest part of the movie is anything with the Basterds themselves -- with some really cringe-worthy moments -- but overall is good. The german parts were awesome, in my opinion..

Cringe worthy? Like what? Aldo and his boys were awesome.

Finally finished watching the movie last night, and it's easily one of the best Tarantino movies ever made and it does deserve an Oscar nom. The scene of Shosanna's laughter that echoed through the theatre as the place was burning down is extremely well-done and very climatic. Shosanna is a very strong character and Mélanie Laurent was unbelievable in this role. Too bad she didn't get a Oscar nom for her performance (what a snub).

I recently watched the film again this morning and my God I loved it even more. I hope to God this wins Best Picture.

I'll just be happy if it wins. Will it win? I hesitate to say it will.

I do think the two frontrunners for BP are Avatar and The Hurt Locker. Unfortunately, it's a long shot for Inglorious Basterds to win it all imo.

None of the BP nominees screamed Best Picture to me, but IB is my favorite of the bunch, so I reallllly want it to win.

I've been reading articles on how it's got a good shot. Weinstein's track record for his films, etc. People here should check them out. They say critics are underestimating this film. I'm split on it. I just think Avatar or the Hurt Locker is gonna win. But Tarantino needs his due.

If it wins best picture, I will start religiously worshipping the Academy.

That will almost make up for Shakespeare In Love winning. Even Crash.

The academy is odd. Sometimes they're so predictable and sometimes they pull **** from under your feet.

I still can't believe that Crash won. Seriously, WTF were the Academy voters thinking?!

They must have been on acid. Or maybe they just took plain stupid.

It frustrates me. The film was so damn preachy and overracted. I mean how many times did we have to hear that most of these people were racist?

I still believe that Academy just didn't want to give it to Brokeback Mtn., so they "settle" on Crash. I haven't encountered one person who thinks Crash deserves BP, either.

Finally saw this...Holy Crap! lol

Christoph Waltz...no wonder he's winning awards. He's great in this film.

My favorite scene is when Hans Landa went to speak to Diane Kruger (yummm) and the Basterds at the theater. Gonna watch that scene again, can't stop laughing... :)

Either Hurt Locker or Avatar is going to win, but if a 3rd film was going to win, this would be that dark horse that could shock people. I don't see it happening, though.

It's crazy how IB gets better and better with each viewing. I want it to win so badly too. It's just a brilliant movie. Sadly, it doesn't look to have much of a chance.

Glad you enjoyed it. That encounter at the theater was the funniest part for me also. And QT got his toe fetish in with Kruger's leg cast. :awesome:

Watched it last night, I love it even more now. great performances all around.

It would be cool if this film wins at the Oscars especially Waltz, the deserve every recognition they get. But you know how the Oscars like...:csad:

A few things I don't like (just minor) about the film are: damn it, QT, does he have to
kill off all the hotties, even the french waitress at the bar! lol

And does anyone else think that it was odd for Landa who's a brilliant detective and very good at anticipating things
to surrender to the Basterds knowing fully well he knows what they do to Nazis. He should've known that they wouldn't fully honor the deal and asked for a different unit to surrender to.

I hope there's a sequel/prequel, more focus on the Basterds and of course Landa should be in it. And leave at least leave
one hottie alive, QT! lol
