Comics All these stories?

I recently got into reading the comics since my cousin got me interested but all these different names are messing me up? Are they interwined or completely separate from eachother?

Well there is uncanny and amazing and just x-men, those are the three series that I've started reading because my cousin allowed me to borrow them, but are they seperate or interwined together like happening at the same time? Because isnt iceman supposed to be on cyclops team yet he's on another team.

The three books are relatively seperate and do not often intertwine. Each can be read without interference from the other two.

And if memory serves correct Amazing X-Men was an event, that occurred during Age of Apoc., a completely independent timely that has nothing to do with the mainstream books. It was part of an event at the time. It was an event that occurred in the mainstream titles, but Amazing was never one of the mainstream books. It was created for the event and lasted a few issues.

Yes they all take place at the same time. There are three main x-teams, all with different characters but they all live in the same house. Look for the Offical threads to find out about each title.

Honestly, this aspect of the 616 combined with its confusing and choatic 40+ year history is what keeps me out of the 616 mostly.


Like I knew all the major Marvel characters' basic storylines BEFORE I got into comics and once I got into comics and found that their storylines were completely screwed up from what I was told when I was a kid....I was like, "forget that."


Luckily, what drew me into the fold was the Ultimate line. I was the same age as Peter is in Ultimate and I could get in on the ground floor of the story --which is familiar but different from the 616 -- which made it easy to pick up and love for me.

Yep, the Ultimate line did for me EXACTLY what Marvel had in mind when they made it. Great job Marvel.
