Like Carpenter and Kurt Russell, and Tim Burton and Johnny Depp etc... I think Guy Pearce is Nolan's Sonny.

That being said, I think Guy Pearce would be an amazing Riddler.

Guy Pearce has been in 1 Chris Nolan film.

Christian Bale, by next summer, will have been in 3, though, admittedly, one is a sequel.

I really don't see why everyone makes a Nolan-Pearce connection, just because they did Memento.

Scorsese and DeCaprio (among others)

No Pearce would been great as Harvey Dent/Two-Face rather then Riddler.

Yeah, I really see no basis for this statement. One film is all they did together. Chris Bale and Michael Caine got 'im beat.

I know they made one film together, and I don't see why Guy is not in any of his other films. He's an amazing actor and works well with Nolan. That's why Memento is my favorite movie.

ooh, Del Toro and Ron Perlman/Doug Jones (Hellboy 2 is, I believe the 4th del toro film for both of them)

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell/ Ted Raimi!

hmm can't think of any more at the moment..

But in any case, Bale is Nolan's guy. Definitely.

Clint Eastwood and Don Siegel/Sergio Leione. John Wayne and Howard Hawks. Cary Grant/Jimmy Stewart and Alfred Hitchcock. Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski.
Just while we're on the subject.

Sylvester Stallone and himself. Talk about self absorbed.

I respect Nolan for not casting the same actors repeatedly. He casts the best actor for the part, regardless of if they worked together. Sure, Guy Pearce would've made a good Dent, but he obviously felt Eckhart would do better.

I'm sure he wouldn't have cast Bale in the Prestige if he didn't feel he was the best actor for that part.

You sure Memento isn't your favourite movie because two writing geniuses had the epiphany of a lifetime?

True. Besides, Eckhart was Nolan's first choice for Memento.

tim burton and johnny depp is a big one

Fincher and Pitt.

Ridley and Russell.

Cameron and the Biehnster.

nolan seems to cast actors looking to get out of their normal typecast roles. take the prestige for example:

david bowie - british, affected german accent
scarlet johannson - american, affected english accent
piper perabo - american, affected english accent
hugh jackman - australian, affected american & british accents
andy serkis - british , affected american accent

futhermore:

gary oldman had never played "calm" in his life before BB.
liam neeson had never played a villain before BB.

some exceptions are michael caine, morgan freeman, al pacino.

eh. maybe he just likes versatile actors (and crew) who know what they're doing.

Great point about Oldman. He was so mellow in BB compared to many of his other roles where he's a nutcase.

Spielberg and Tom Cruise?

They've only made, what, 2 movies together? And I'm pretty sure Spielberg said he wouldn't work with Cruise again after he hijacked the War of the Worlds promo to talk about scientology.

Oldman had the look for gordon....nobody can disagree with that.

And thats why he got that role I think!
