Cillian Murphy on The Dark Knight

Source: ComingSoon.net
March 8, 2007

Cillian Murphy talked to ComingSoon.net and did not confirm or deny that his Batman Begins character, Scarecrow, might be back for The Dark Knight.

And for those still wondering whether Murphy might return as Dr, Jonathan Crane AKA The Scarecorew in Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel The Dark Knight, the actor still is hesitant to talk about it. "I'm not at liberty and it's not my place to say," he repeated from other recent interviews. "I'd love to work with Chris again. I enjoyed tremendously working on that film, and we'll see. I think casting Heath Ledger as the Joker is fantastic casting. He'll make an amazing movie."

He wasn't cast yet? I thought he was already in. Damn! What are they waiting for?

Hmmm. I think if he wasn't in it, he'd just say so. This whole "I'm not at liberty to discuss" angle makes me think he's going to pop up in the film.

Same here. I think he's going to have one cool cameo.

I get the feeling he's not in and just has alot of respect for Nolan so he's keeping everyone guessing.

He might be showing up for a cameo though.

He's been approached, whether it works out or not is still up in the air.

What don't you understand. I get the impression he won't be in it, but it's still very possibly he has some kind of small cameo.

I HAVE the impression that he's not in either. I mean..Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart read the script already, so that probably means that Cillian's role isn't big or even there.

But there's no reason NOT to have CIllian, you know? He did a good job and he warrants a cameo or some sort.

Thanks for the info Gill, hopefully it works out and he'll have a small cameo getting captured by Batman in the beginning of the film.....

I'm thinking he's in and his appearance supposed to be a surprise. If he wasn't in it, he would probably deny. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I hope Cillian Murphy is in the sequel he did an excellent job portraying scarecrow in Batman Begins.

The "I'd love to work with Chris again. I enjoyed tremendously working on that film, and we'll see." makes me think he won't be in it. I'd like him to be in it though. His character shouldn't just vanish without proper closure.

I wouldn't worry.... I think he will be in TDK, and rightfully so. The Joker need someone to make the Laughing Gas, and Dr. J. Crane is the perfect character to do just that........ plus a little motivation like getting back at Batman, does not hurt either. ;)

This reminds me when Larry Holden was telling everyone he wasn't in the movie...then he pops up as Finch!

I think Cillian Murphy is in the Dark Knight. We just don't know how big his role is the movie.

I think if the Scarecrow really has no part in it and he hadn't been approached at all, Cillian would've said flat out "No."

Usually this type of answer mean "We're in talks, nothing's finalized yet. But it's looking good."

Aye, this is him being a cute Irish ****e. I'll eat my collection of James Ellroy novels if he's not in it.

I hope he is . I kind of want to see what happens. Does he get captured ?since he escaped in Batman Begins. Is he behind some of the Joker plot as in working with Joker?
Maybe some type of closure.

he'll be in it. they left him alive for a reason. and they loved the long halloween (nolan and goyer). this is gonna be sweet.

Just curious, but what exactly does gillberg2k1 do (his job, I mean)?

P.S. Scarecrow and Murphy rocks my socks!

I hope that Scarecrow is indeed in it . . . what would be even better is if the Scarecrow is somehow responsible for turning Joker insane . . . think chemicals mixed w/ the fear gas that have just sent Joker on a permanent mind-fuack . . . . and then his role pops up as part of the big twist . . .

He's part of the SHH Triad! I was asked to join and we would call ourselves the Fantastic Four but than Stan Lee took us to court and I was eventually dropped from the group:o  :down

should we start up a "Pay a tip to Cillian Murphy if he appears in TDK" fund?

I hope he does appear in TDK. I'd be satisfied if it's a cameo, even though I prefer a bigger role than he had in Batman Begins, but that's asking for to much.

Screw Joker, give me more Scarecrow!

:batman:
