Don't feel that left out, this issue was garbage. It was boring and did not relate to much. Save your money.

Wow, I couldn't have more of a differing opinion.. This was definately the kind of issue that made me think, "Man, if you don't like this issue, you don't get Spidey at all."

I loved it. From the cover to the letters page, it was laugh out loud funny.

And I didn't even like the set-up to this. I thought the bookie, who I first thought seemed like a pretty cool character, came across as a big wuss. But it was definately worth it for the payoff in this issue. Great interplay between Spidey and the Bookie's dad.

What didn't you like about it, Touchdowns?

I 100% agree with you about it being funny but I felt bored while reading it. I don't like the Enforcers anyway so maybe that had to do something with it.

By the way, I wasn't going to start this thread until tomorrow, since some people don't like getting spoiled. I wouldn't say there's any big reveals anyways, just old-fashioned spidey fun. But I will say that the cover gave me an lol moment...

Funny. Great art. Sub-plots. Ridiculous situations. What more could you want??

Seriously though, I know what you mean. Sometimes all the ingredients are there, but if all you end up doing is flipping through it, it's all for nothing.

I know Marvel wants Spider-Man back in the top 20.

It looks like they're going to do a few small stories before we get into the Slott/ Romitia team.

This issue was somewhat of a let down for me. (after seeing the great cliffhanger) :csad: I'm not knocking Gale's work. he has definitely improved...its like his writing methods have gone to rehab. (drrrruuuuuuugggsss) but its REALLY hard not comparing him to zeb wells or dan slott. I think thats what really hurts the quality of his writing the most. It makes it harder to judge as its own story.

Key point of this issue that I'm glad about is that there was no funky reference to OMD.

That's the problem; having all the typical ingredients for a typical Spider-Man story. It's something that's already been done countless times.

With the right ingredients you can bake a delicious cake. But it probably won't taste as good the hundredth time you eat it...

Personally I'm glad I've decided to stop reading Spider-Man after One More Day. The only thing that in my opinion could justify the worst thing I've ever read is the best thing I've ever read, or at least the best Spider-Man story. And I doubt there will be anything but typical run-of-the-mill-stories in the future. Not because a lack of talent, but because of a lack of creative freedom.

But in all fairness Spider-Mans problems is something that a lot of ongoing series without an end has suffered. How many great tv-series hasn't felt dull and boring after too many seasons?

Strange, this did not arrive in my store today, neither was it on this weeks list....

Well, I finally read it tonight... decent read... Gale certainly is my least favorite writer on the team, but this work was better than his previous issues... the artwork was nice, and it's a simple Spidey yarn that was pleasant to read... not too simple, yet not too complicated...

And the Daredevil team up for July looks awesome... I love the cover ad for ASM #566...

:yay:

I really liked this Issue alot. From the beginning to end, it was very fun. It also had some funny scenes in it as well. :word::word::word::up:

I thought the cover for this one was great!

Yeah... it's nice to see Spider-Man covers that reflect what's happening in the issue, and it was really nice to see actual "dialogue" on a Spider-Man cover...

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Indeed, it reminds me of the classic Spidey comics. :spidey:

This was a fun issue to read. Great cover, good artwork, some funny dialogue. Not great but not bad either.

Any other old-timers catch the tribute to the old "Not Brand Ecch" comic on page #3? :yay:

Oh yeah. I definately caught that. There seems to be some kind of tribute like that in every issue. I should go back and see who they've "tributed" so far.

I hope dare-devil has his sense of humor in it...
I used to love when the two would bounce off each other...but lately he's become batman...lol.
