AMC orders 'Preacher' pilot.

That picture above looks more like Jesse than Cassidy.

It's not about the look. It's about the manic, youthful, wise-ass energy that Robert Sheehan does better than just about anyone that makes him perfect for Cassidy. It's like it was written for him.

So is he gonna play Arseface? I wouldn't hate that idea, he'd be unrecognizable anyway.

I thought Dylan McDermott would have been a good Jesse but he's too old now. That picture above looks more like Jesse than Cassidy.

I'm not finished with the series anyway. Could AMC really do it the right way? It'll be controversial but that will only draw in more viewers I think. Obviously, very religious people might not like it anyway so what would be the problem exactly? Christian boycott of AMC?
Even though I am one and watch most of AMC's programming, I don't exactly see a lot of Christians flocking to the programming already run by AMC, so unless it having to do with religion really stirs the pot, then I doubt it'd make much differences.

I could care less what they religious freaks think.

It's entertainment, pure and simple. It's more thought provoking than senseless violence. Anyone that read the book would understand that.

Exactly. Ultimately Preacher wasn't about God or religion anyway, it was about friendship.

That said, we can approach it with as much logic as we like -when there are people who get upset because Captain America says "There's only one God ma'am, I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." you can bet good money they'll be people who get riled at the content of Preacher. The comic itself has caused enough controversy over the years because of it's religious themes.

Utt oh, they already have the rights and this guy doesn't even know what its about? And mention going in different directions???

The COO probably doesn't deal with stuff like that, more so the development executives and president.

CONFIRMED

And they've got a Breaking Bad writer on-board as showrunner? LAWD yes...

I hope whoever they cast as Jesse does a southern accent.

Woody Harrelson would make a great Jody

Kevin Durand as Jody would be PERFECT casting.

Picture him with a ponytail and we have a winner.

Man, a Preacher TV show is one thing I never want to see. Let alone one that Seth Rogen is involved with.

As much as I love the comic, I'll give the show a miss.

I'm excited. Preacher has been my favorite comic for years, I've read it well over a dozen times. I can't wait to see what they come with.

As far as casting goes, I'd love to see William Fitchner as The Saint of Killers.

I need to go through and re-read my trades before I can jump on the fantasy casting bandwagon.

One thing I'm sure though is that the Breaking Bad guy's involvement will get some heads turned toward this, if the news about it in general doesn't get people interested in the network doing another comic adaptation after WD's success.

AMC has the highest quality output.

Them and HBO.

Hopefully American Gods will also make its way to AMC.

I have yet to repurchase the first three trades after they were stolen from me. :cmad:

I want American Gods on FX. Just because. :o

I wonder if they are going to make this contemporary or are they going to set it in the nineties?

I said it once before and I will say it again. Rogen being involved is not the problem at all. He is obviously a huge fan otherwise he wouldn't be doing it. It being developed for AMC though...that is what worries me.

I would think it's going to take place in a modern setting. The only thing I can think of that was directly related to the 90's was Arseface shooting himself right after Cobain did.

That and [BLACKOUT]The Grail were planning their man-made apocalypse to coincide with the year 2000[/BLACKOUT]. But neither is a big deal that can't be tweaked slightly for modern times.
