AMC's Hell on Wheels

I know what you mean, hopefully they do a spot of retconning, otherwise they'll just write in another woman and cheapen everything that went before.

Not just that but her death seems like shock value. "Kill the little blonde woman who watched her husband killed by indians look how edgy we are!"

When I watched it, it felt to me like they wrapped things up just in case there was no 3rd season.

Bah hum bug....I just don't get the Lily/Cullen thing. I do want Cullen to hook up with someone new. Though the actress who played Lily was great. I just thought the character lacked in many ways.

Just watched the season finale. As for the boldfaced quote...what do you mean? I hope you aren't saying she should suddenly be alive next season...?

That's what I'm saying, just fudge it that she was not dead, otherwise they'll just write in some extra female character to give the show it's romance angle.

I think she should stay dead. I love how we have no idea where the story is going to go from here. They have so many possibilities.

It did seem like they were covering their bases in case it wasn't renewed. But they told a solid story. They can move on to the next story now.

I think he'll probably just have a different love interest.

Agreed! I never liked Lily anyway. I hope they bring on someone new who will really be fitting for Cullen. For my two cents, Lily fell WAY short of that stature.

Any news on when the new show will be coming back? Usually they do some kind of duo with the Walking Dead, but since that show has kind of become is own entity and AMC seems determined to push that stupid talk show, The Talking Dead, in lieu of any real programming I'm not sure.

Does anyone know?

Cullen is a killer and has his own darkness and devious agendas, I don't see how Lilly was not worthy lol. At any rate it'll take a good trailer to get me interested in a 3rd season.

Which sucks IMO.

I liked the Lilly and Cullen relationship. Mostly I enjoyed the crossover between their personalities. Cullen's aristocratic know-how, a down and dirty gunslinger who can keep up with high society if needs be. Lilly's ability to get messy, even downright brutal, when needs be -despite her prissy appearance and general position.

Oh well, time will tell if killing her off was a good idea or not. Have to wait and see how the show handles it and where the story goes.

I was surprised that they killed her, but now that it's done in no way do I want them to pull a Bobby Ewing lol.

Didn't see this coming. HoW is moving to Saturdays. It does have 14 hours of westerns movies/shows as a lead in so it may help out.

I was curious how AMC was going to handle Breaking Bad, Low Winter Sun and Hell on Wheels this summer.

Even with DVRs Sundays have become too clustered. BBC America has found success on Saturdays and while it may take a dip in the demo there should be an audience for Saturday nights in the summer. Three seasons, three timeslots, three showrunners, if this show can get to five seasons it will have had a good run.

Wow, so AMC are being pretty care-free about spoiling season 3 for people. Just had a major spoiler spring up from the official Hell On Wheels page on Facebook.

Oh well, for those who don't care about spoilers keep reading, and I'll use spoiler tags for the big reveal:

By the way, I totally called it months ago...

The Swede is back.

I would love to see The Swede come back. If season 3 opens with him floating face down only for his eyes to spring open, that would be cool with me.

I really enjoyed the first half, but the second hour slowed down a lot for me. I'm worried that the show will become repetitive now since it felt like I'd already seen the second half before.

The newspaper lady is apparently set up to be the new Lilly, but her character arc looks like it's going to be the exact same.

I cant believe that dude let his son be hanged.

Cullen gave that dude every chance to fess up and tell the truth and he never did. What an ass.

Guess dad reasons he's doing it "for the good of the family." But yeah, what an ass. :(

I hope that father gets killed at some point. He was a piece of sh** for letting that happen. And then to top that, he goes and blames Cullen for it. WTF? Talk about a hypocritical *****ebag.

All in all, fairly solid premier, though I thought it was a little too light on action for a Western. Still, I'm sure the violence is coming.

Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but a number of characters on this show remind me of other actors.

Cullen reminds me of Josh Brolin. Elam's buddy (forget his name) reminds me of Bernie Mac. Durant reminds me of Gene Hackman in Unforgiven. And that one Irish brother reminds me of Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future III, when he played Marty's Irish ancestor.

Anyone else notice this, or am I just crazy?

haha I totally see all of those. The only one I thought was Durant and Gene Hackman, but a lot of people have said that I think.

So glad to see that the Swede is back. I wasn't sure if he lived or died at the end of last season. Sh** is really going to fly when he crosses paths with Bohannon again.

In the meantime, that colonel guy is a good creepy villain.

Also, is Joseph ever coming back? I hope so; I liked him. They can kill off those two Irish brothers though. Those guys are the only main characters on this show that I've never liked.

I was surprised to see the Swede as well. The chances of surviving a fall like were pretty slim at best.

Yeah the colonel is a psychopathic racist. The thing with the heads was pretty gross.

I seriously doubt most people would have survived that fall as well, but that's tv, right? :p

At a family gathering, but I'm about to force them to turn to AMC in the family room in about ten minutes.
