For those who don't know, there is a documentary coming out called "America: Freedom to Fascism." In it, what started as an investigation as to whether there is an actual law that states we are to pay income tax to the government turns into a frightening look at how the United States has turned from a true democracy to a unofficial totaltaltarian police state.

Here's a link to the whole movie:

What is everyones thoughts to this? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Can you actually prove your claims?

I just hope this stays an at least somewhat friendly, rational discussion and not into a mud-slinging political fiasco like topics here, and really, the United States policial system, degenerate into. :o

nothing in life is free. you have to pay taxes.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be ANY taxes, but the problem is that there is no reason in the rules of the law or the constitution stating that we need to pay INCOME tax.

Almost every United States Court of Appeals has made a blanket statement repudiating tax protester arguments. For example, see United States v. Buckner:

"For the record, we note that the following beliefs, which are stock arguments of the tax protester movement, have not been, nor ever will be, considered 'objectively reasonable' in this circuit:
"(1) the belief that the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution was improperly ratified and therefore never came into being;
"(2) the belief that the Sixteenth Amendment is unconstitutional generally;
"(3) the belief that the income tax violates the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment;
"(4) the belief that the tax laws are unconstitutional;
"(5) the belief that wages are not income and therefore are not subject to federal income tax laws;
"(6) the belief that filing a tax return violates the privilege against self-incrimination; and
"(7) the belief that Federal Reserve Notes do not constitute cash or income."

Gotta start somewhere, dude.

Talks aren't helping.

Sabotage is the next step.

THEN WAR!!

i remember an old manager of mine telling me about this thing you can do where if you're ever in trouble with the law, you can take it to court and go through this very specific process that forces the courts to go by the letter of the law as written in the original constitution....for example: you run a red light, get pulled over and ticketed, go to court, force them through this process, you get off scott free since theres nothing about traffic laws int eh original constitution. the thing is though, you REALLY have to know exactly what your doing to get through this process, other wise you're f**ked.

you know if it wasn't for Raegan, Bush SR, and Bush JR's deficits our taxes would be like 30% lower than what they are right now?

At this point in time 40% of what you pay in taxes this year is to pay for this year's interest on the deficit. We don't get any government service or spending in return for that money, and it doesn't pay down the deficit, it just pays for this year's interest. If we had no deficit, than we wouldn't need to pay that money. You can thank the republicans for your taxes being so high. They claim they want to keep them low, but they are really the ones keeping them high. There is a difference between lowering taxes and putting off paying them. Most people fail to realize that.

I don't think any of us (at least, I'm not) were blaming the three for this to have started. According to the film, it was started by Wilson in 1913. They probably didn't help that much, though.

I'm sorry if that wasn't what you were trying to say, but it's 12:30 here and I'm not exactly in the best state of mind.
