To officials and other fighters...yes, it does....its a matter of professionalism...I can agree...it also can consitutue an unfair advantage in a fight....and it shouldn't matter if shes' hot or whatever....but its TV so it does...
 
From what I've read, Gina hardly ever made weight before AG. 'Going Hollywood' doesn't have anything to do with it.
 
^^^ yes her first 5 MMA fights, I believe she only made weight for 1 of them...so maybe its a discipline issue on her part....put down the donut holes

So what? She kicked the crap out of that other girl, she looked like Rocky in the first movie, almost expected to hear her say "Cut me Mick."

Carano needs to be like Rocky in the third movie, so that she can have "The Eye of the Tiger."

she beat the other girl and was penalized for the weight check. it just seems like they are trying to find excuses to call her hollywood.
 
well usual procedure is if one of the fighters in a bout doesn't make weight, they are penalized a percentage of their winnings....and its 4 pounds, which is a big deal

and, to repeat, the 6 MMA fights she has had, she has only made weight for one of them....so it is a valid point

interesting...i didn't know that. i heard that apparently when she started the very first time, her trainer said that she is too fat to compete.

i hate how they blame AG though. both venom and jet obviously weight less than her, she should have been at weight for the fight.

i just don't like people saying that she is hollywood because i don't consider AG, dancing with the stars, real world hollywood by any means. now if she did more shows like surreal life or any "celebrity-blank" then yeah, i can see people saying that she is a sell-out.
 
It doesn't matter(its still part of the entertainment machine)...its not MMA....most people feel if she is going to call herself an MMA fighter she needs to be 100 percent committed to MMA

i'm not saying there's opnion is not correct, i just don't agree with it.

interesting that you say that, because i wouldn't have watched it if i wasn't a fan of crush/AG.

i agree with the unprofessionalism. she should have made weight. but at the same time, i don't think young should complain (althought i don't know if she really is or not, maybe it's just others doing it for her) because she had the option of not taking the fight. ofcourse it would have been a catch-22 for her, since if she didn't take it, she wussed out, and if she did, she would have a 4 pound disadvantage. i feel bad for her, and mad props for taking the fight.
 
It was the first time MMA was on network TV and most MMA fans I know thought, match wise, the show sucked....I agree....now people who don't watch MMA see that and thinks its good....MMA (as an entity) had a good chance to put its best foot forward and didn't do so hot....ratings were good because its something thats never been on network TV before and its more curiosity than anything

i have the avy becuase i think she is very pretty and i am a fan...but i was just trying to make an unbiased point here on her behalf as a fighter, nothing with her looks. i could understand what you are saying if she lost this one, or any other one. but she's 5-0 right now (12-1 muy-thai?), so i think she's proven herself as a fighter. that match was my first match of her, and i felt it was a commanding victory for her.

is that right? i didn't know that. so was this is a one-time thing then? do they have plans to make it a regular or not?
 
well EliteXC usually airs on Showtime, and CBS and Showtime have the same parent company....the PTB probably figured with a strike shortened TV season and how TV ratings are usually down this time of year, it was a good opportunity to garner some interest in EliteXC and, in turn, MMA...I'm not sure if it is going to be a regular thing....

Next CBS show is in October.

This means that they got four months to fix whatever needed to be fixed.
