But anyway, so are you saying that if you went to a 3 hour long movie, where a man and a woman were depicted as dating and falling in love, going through good times and bad times, for two hours and forty minutes, and then at the end of the movie, they took off all of their clothes and had real sex, in several positions, for 20 minutes, you wouldn't feel uncomfortable at all watching it while sitting next to your child?

My daughter can pretty much watch whatever she wants, and has always been able to. If it's an R-rated movie, I will usually hang and watch with her unless it's a movie we've already seen.

I've never been a strong believer in sensoring what my daughter watches. In fact, to the contrary, the more a child is exposed to, and the more a parent is there to explain it, the more a subject is "demystified". Obviously, I'm not talking about porn here for all you sickos who would reply "you let your kids watch porn??"

To that end, she pretty much moderates herself now. She's not a big fan of horror, but she loves comedy. In fact, she and I listen to and watch George Carlin a lot.

Also, it's quite funny now that I think about it. There's this really old lady who works as a ticket seller at our local movie theater. I took my daughter and one of her friends to see Sin City when it came out, and this old lady just made the most disgusted looking faces at me while I was buying us tickets. It was hilarious t:.

Maybe this should be a poll, but I don't know. Anyway, why is it okay for kids to see violence in movies...but not nudity or sex scenes in a R-rated movie? I think it's because violence is real. We will all see gore, blood, and violent things in our life. Sex is something...well, between two people that usually love each other.

What do you think is the reason why parents feel it's okay their teen or kid to see a violent action, action/horror, crime, or horror movie?

Because the parents want to keep their kids "innocent". Somehow understanding a simple biological process will make your kids less cute.
My father would let me watch what I wanted my mother on the other hand was less liberating.

Porn isn't respectful to people. I wouldn't let a young child watch porn because it is too unrealistic and too ridiculous. However, other movies with nudity will be permitted if the nudity is in good taste. Your body is a natural thing you should not be ashamed of. At the same time I will try my best to limit the amount of violence my son is exposed too. I know I'm fighting a losing battle with that one because my husband likes violent movies/shows and doesn't like changing the channel for anyone else.

Sex is nothing to be ashamed of, the truth is porn would have no affect on a child. A pre-puberty child cannot be aroused.
