Quite a few of the southern states are still quite poor apparently. Not a good year for Mississippi. Its the Fattest and Poorest state.

They can't afford liposuction, I don't know. I guess rich people have more motivation to look hot. If you work as a bag boy you really aren't that concerned about your appearance. If you work as a corporate VP then yeah...I would think you'd attempt to look better.

it doesn't mention the Rio Grande Valley in deep south Texas, which is pretty much where I live, and according to census, the Brownsville/Harlingen area is amongst the poorest in the country

I think if you're a bagger you really aren't that concerned with anything. When I was a bagger, as years on it made me pretty hateful.

I was there a couple of summers ago, doing community projects (not service!)

I oversaw some groups that were painting houses and doing light construction work. It was all volunteer. I had a great time there! There were some nice middle-class neighborhoods, and some really dilapidated areas.

Gosh, what the names of some of those towns??

Very true about the poor states. When my parents were traveling around with music groups, we either played in, or went through most of those states. Very depressing in a lot of places.
