Well the crew have needs if they're away from home a long time.
But seriously, it would just give them someone more human to interact with, and an extra female member of the crew.
At least give Gideon a more human appearance when she appears as that holographic projection instead of that crude 3D modelling base body appearance. That looks primitive for something from the future. They could've just filmed Amy's face and had her appear there, which must be cheaper to do than trying to animate this computer graphic each week.
If she has to remain just an AI interface, I would rather Gideon looked like this:
yes she is a lovely looking lady. But again the purpose is she is a computer ai system. So there isnt really a need for her to have a full body or what not. She is pretty much just a higher tech version of siri and we dont need siri to have a body to help you out.
Well no-one seems to talk about what Gideon did or said in an episode. But admittedly, she didn't have many lines in the last episode because she was being repaired. That's why she ought to have a proper physical body, so that she can interact with the crew and we can have more to talk about and how pretty she looks.
There are many more options with Gideon having a physical body. She can perform manual tasks which might be too dangerous for the rest of the crew, and also with more precision. She could go on missions as well. She could be like Data from Star Trek: TNG or even the Vision.
Plus she'll be very attractive to look at and can provide more companionship, because there are only 2 women in the crew.
seesh again gideon purpose is that of a ai system and to give out info and likely as we seen control computer systems of the ship. She doesnt need to have a body to do those things.
I don't know why Amy Pemberton decided to start following me on Twitter. I've never tweeted a single thing in my life. Don't think I've even interacted with her.
And as I said in the episode thread, I've read around on the net. Everyone seems to have had a very positive reaction to human Gideon and would not only like to see more of her but for her to take on a permanent human form, whether that's as a hologram, an android or a real person via the spear of destiny.
It's as if people never realized before what a great addition to the show it would be to have Amy Pemberton actually on screen instead of just a disembodied voice. Maybe they never knew how beautiful she actually is. I've been saying this all along though. She's a talented actress and singer who deserves to be seen and not just heard.
People are also in favour of shipping the ship and Rip. Ripeon?
I'm sure Sara would like a physical form of Gideon too.
Maybe this week's episode was a trial run for human Gideon to see how fans would respond to her. Hopefully it opens up the possibility for her to return as an actual member of the crew. She could even be like the doctor/ EMH on Star Trek Voyager who started off as just an interface on the ship but gradually became his own person.
What about all of those times when the ship has either been boarded and the members incapacitated or just in those situations where the team has been captured surely a probably super strong android operated by a smart a.i. that could be sent onto dangerous suicide missions would be useful as what is one destroyed body when another can be made.
