I remember hearing about a study with the exact same concept, it was a college class or something that was asked to count how many passes a team made during a quarter of the game. The prof. had a bear run out into the middle of the court. Nobody saw it.

I saw it, but then again I'd seen the almost exact same thing during a presentation Michael Shermer did (I think, during "TED talks" last year, or possibly "The Amazing Meeting"). It was people dressed in white an black passing a basketball around. Only difference was, it was a man in a gorilla suit.
