I want Spider-Man in the Marvel movies. Unfortunately, Sony still has the rights to him. However, Bendis' newly created Miles Morales should be owned by Marvel, correct? Maybe Miles Morales could be a Spider-Man for an Avengers sequel? They may not be able to call him Spider-Man, but maybe they could call him The Spider or Arachnoman (both names also from Ultimate Marvel).

He may not be Peter Parker, but in an Avengers movie they wouldn't focus a lot on Peter anyway. Just a Spider-Man being there would be nice until Marvel Studios gets the original back (God knows how long that'll be). Miles may not be a proven character yet, but I believe he will end up being great.

Also: Because Miles is so young, I don't think he'd actually be on the main roster. But he would still be cool to have in the movie, showing up during a fight. Or maybe SHIELD/The Avengers don't know how old he is so they just accept him helping in a fight he comes across. Whatever, I just want a Spider-Man!

Don't think it would work. Non-comic readers would be thinking "Who the hell is this?" and fans would just be ticked off that Marvel put a Spider-Man replacement in one of their major movies.
Also, I don't think Marvel will ever get the rights back to their characters, though I would love to be proved wrong.

No. If they're ever planning on using a Spider-Man they should use the Spider-Man.

i'm forward thinking enough to allow it.

but it just depends wehtehr morales would fit into the avengers group, it certainly needs some diversity.

thor ironman captain america hulk and hawkeye are five white males.

they should spread the love out about

but aren't the rights to anything with spiderman in it completely gone.

they could go with a scarlet spider

As much as I am looking forward to reading the New Spider-Man, I really don't see that working in the MCU. Especially without having Peter as Spidey first.

No...just....no! If any ethnic Spidey would be used, it should be Spidey 2099.

Anyways, the natural choice for an ethnic character to add to the Avengers lineup should be Black Panther, perhaps make him the focal point of conflict in the sequel.

The only reason to include Spider-Man is to bring in the audience/fans he already has. So to do it you need the actual Spider-man, not what will be rightly considered a knock-off. BP is the better choice for diversity.

You have a black Nick Fury - how many more black characters do you need? I am sure they will get around to guys like the Panther, the Falcon, female Captain Marvel, etc. in due time - why rush it or force the issue with this "Ultimate" version of Spider-Man who will be quickly gone and forgotten...

Spider-Man and Wolverine are only in the Avengers in the comics to boost sales anyway and there are plenty of Avengers characters like Black Panther, Wasp, Quicksilver, .Ms Marvel and Wonder Man that Marvel can use.

What do you mean by how many black characters do you need

There isn't a limit or anything

spider-man and wolverine should have never been part of the Avengers, if they did appear it should be in an event movie, not and avengers one. And if Spider-man is use it should be Peter Parker.

Samuel L Jackson is black enough to count for SIX people.xD

I think because miles morales is part of the spider-man universe he can't be used in a movie.then again i'm not really sure at all about how the movie agreement works.seems like one hell of an iron clad contract

You might as well forget about diversity arguments when talking about comic book movies. It's a non-starter.

Any and all things Spider-Man are part of the deal, I don't know if it includes new characters, but seeing as how Fox owned Darwin, who wasn't created until after they got the rights to make the movies, I suspect that the deals with Fox and Sony are for ALL things related to those properties. Even if it weren't, he couldn't be called Spider-Man or Scarlet Spider. They'd have to make up a new name, and still risk being sued by Sony for potentially stealing fans from Spider-Man.

I don't think Avengers works for teenage characters. It's a bit heftier than that, with the military angle. I like Miles Morales, and I don't think he's any less a Spidey than Peter, but the idea, unfortunately, isn't quite crazy enough to work, legally or thematically.

If it's a diversity issue, Black FRIKKIN Panther is waiting in the wings (since Fury is just a supporting overseer, not an active member). If it's a Spider-Man thing, then we can't have him, he's off limits.

I like the idea and it would be the great spot for Daniel Glover, But it wouldn't happen

The Avengers Comics, are too diluted in my opinion. Everyone who is anyone is an avenger and it's a little old and boring to me. As far as the movies go, I would love to see additional characters in the movie if they can actually add to the quality of the film, but keeping the principle team as the focus is paramount, imo.

Maybe have the option to sub out Hulk if he decides to fight the rest of the team(hopefully they go that route at some point) and fill his spot, but I think Quality over Quantity is the way to do it. Whatever they decide, this movie is going to be sick!

Yeah, I really hate how Wolverine of all people is now an Avenger. I remember Captain America once telling Wolverine that he better hope the X-Men don't ever get sick and tired of him, because the Avengers will never take him in. Come to think of it, I also remember Captain America once telling Spider-Man that he's not Avengers material because he's not powerful enough (Say wha-?!?). And yet here we are and both Spider-Man and Wolverine are now Avengers. *sigh* Oh yeah, and isn't Spider-Man a member of the Fantastic Four now, too (Nevermind that Wolverine was also a member of the Fantastic Four at one point. Geeze, doesn't Marvel ever get tired of ****ing Wolverine out)?

Getting a bit on-topic, there're better ways of bringing more diversity to the Avengers then introducing a cheap knock-off Spider-Man to the team, which you know will only piss people off. Honestly, we're not even talking the hardcore fans. The general audience all know Peter Parker as Spider-Man. That's who they've seen in all the movies, in all the cheap made for tv movies, in all the various Saturday morning cartoons which have aired the past few DECADES, etc. They're not going to accept Miles Morales. Especially not when they can wait two weeks and go see a movie with the REAL Spider-Man.

Better options for diversity would be to have REAL Avengers on the team, rather than crappy Ultimates knockoffs. Black Panther and Luke Cage are two obvious choices. And we all know that once Robert Downey Jr. is done playing Iron Man, War Machine is going to step in and be an Avenger. There's also Photon and Falcon, and that's just for a start. Better that route than having two Spider-Men competing against each other, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe tainting itself with the cheap, crappy Spider-Man counterpart while Sony is running around with the real thing.

Back to SM, I read about rumors of a Garfield sighting in the movie, similar to Wolverine in XM:FC, but Whedon shot those down flat as of Jan 31st of this new year.

If they go the route of Ultron in A2, I wouldn't mind at all seeing Vision become an Avenger.

You know what could work? Avengers and the Transformers. I think they are both distributed by Paramount. Just throwing it out there. lol

ummm...panther should be in because he is awesome and for no other reason.

Spider-man and all related characters are licensed by Sony

fox is not gonna give the rights to spider-man until the marvel cinematic universe is done and that might not happen for another decade so they should just focus on there lesser known heroes like black panther, ms. marvel, and doctor strange

Race isn't the only kind of diversity. Let's get another woman in there, too.
